Need advice re: re-balance

I am only recently qualified and have a question....

I am doing a re-balance tonight and the girl has her nails done frenh style but with clear acrylic and glitter strips rather than your normal white free edge.

This might sound like a really silly question but how do i re-balance these? Obiously as your thinning out the acrylic your going to file away the glitter surely? Is this whats supposed to happen and then just re-apply product? Or do they have to be compltely removed and start again?

Sorry if this is a silly question but i'm just not sure.

Yep you should be thining out where you can see the natural nail under the smile line and replacing product there to hide it so you need to have the same products that she already has to make it match!
