Hi,

I am looking at renting a salon room they are asking for 40% commision on what I earn, they are giving me the use of two beauty rooms and products included at the moment dermologica but this at a later date will be transfered over to me, also OPI an st tropez.

I think this sounds like a great oppourtunity but I really nervous in making the leap as I am working currently in an office and want to get back in the industry so what is stopping me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:irked:

What are your thoughts on this what other things should I look at, how much should i be looking to earn a day is this fisable will i be able to afford to employee someone to make use of the second room ????

Sorry to go on just need some support to see what you guys think ??

Thanks

Nobody can give you a cast iron guarantee. We don't know enough about you.
The setup sounds fantastic. I dont think anyone could be making it any easier for you than this.
Whether it works for you or not comes down to how hard you work, your personality, your skills etc etc.
If this is your first ever foray into the industry I would advise people to get a job in a salon with experienced therapists first before going self employed.

I totally agree with this,I have seen too many therapists come straight out of college or never having worked in a salon situation and wonder why they dont get clients repeat booking when they set up on their own.

They have nothing to strive towards,ie another therapists work. The last salon I worked in the owner was outstanding in her treatments, particularly her nail painting I used to admire her work and all I did was strive towards it because I wanted to be equal if not better. Also it helps to have someone to bounce off and someone to discuss problems etc with.

I do think the room sounds wonderful. Are you St Tropez trained? Have you got a facial line ready as this can be very expensive?I wish you all the best, there is loads of info on the net regarding setting up a small business.Maybe you could rent the other room out rather than employing someone? How long have you been in the business and can you afford to not earn anything for several months whilst building clients up?All of these things need to be thought through because it does take time, even for someone who has been in the industry for years.

Yeah I am a trained therapist with St tropez tanning and many other bits under my belt and have worked in several salons over the past 6 years, its just one if those its sounds to good to be true !! Maybe I should just take the leap and see what happens???
