Hi
For all you people that have the gift of the gab or just know how to talk people into buying retail.....can i borrow you? :) ok, when i was training and when i worked for other people i wasn't taught how to sell retail. In college, we brought our own families in so they weren't interested in buying anything and in the salons we just sold to people asking for the products. Can i get hints and tips on the techniques for selling retail as i dont have a clue? Is there anywhere on the net for this? Like if a client asked certain questions how do you approach selling them a product. Im sure other people feel this way and could use this info as well.
Thank you

You just have to not be scared. These clients are coming to you because they want your help. So sell them stuff to help them. It might help first if you read up on your products so that you know what you are talking about. I always tell my clients what I am putting on them and more to the point WHY.
You must let them feel the products. Dont try to sell them too many at once as they get confused and just walk away.
It's not so scary hun. Think of it as a challenge. I have targets to meet and I love it! Even though i'm on a rubbish commission.
You also have to know when to just leave it when a client is not showing interest. You will get the jist of it and know the ones that will buy from the ones that don't.
Give the ones that are not showing interest, a few samples to take home. They usually come back to buy.
Are you mobile or salon based and what products are you using? xxx

I sell products every day, and consider myself a failure if I don't! I've found that telling people about products rather than selling them things works a hundred times better.

Take skincare for example, 9 times out of 10 they will have a problem or concern, find out what it is, then ask what they are currently doing, then using your knowledge choose the product(s) that you honestly believe will help them, then tell them about it & get them to try it. If you have new products in & you have a client you are familiar with then tell them about them & what they're for. Enthusiasm & a love for what you are selling always works wonders!

You have to have faith in what you are selling, so knowing your products in side out is a must. Then its as the others have said, as you do the treatment you chat about the products, tell them how the longer they use the products between treatments how much better they look and feel.
All those make over programs stress the fact that six months later the nose job, skin peel etc will look so much better then it does on the day of the reveal, so your clients are used to hearing this. I used to love selling and got a real buzz out of having people come up to me and say that I was so right with what I'd told them.
Confidence, being relaxed, smiling, making eye contact when you stress a point, holding the product in your hand, as you talk, using the products your self so you can be your own advert and point to yourself and say, this or that was a problem for me but as you can see my skin is clearer, more toned etc are all the things a client wants. When they buy one thing to try put in a couple of samples of other things that go with it, they will see the difference when the samples run out and they only have the one product to use.
Hope this helps hun:hug:

Hi
Im salon based and use eve taylor. They only do certain samples so its hard to give them to clients. I will def learn the products etc. We were taught during a facial that we're not allowed to talk as the client needs to relax. Do you just give a quick description of the product and what your doing with it? Would you sit the client down after a facial and explain the products you recommend? Does anyone have a list of questions you go through for each facial?
