Hi Everyone,
can someone help me i'm just new to salon geek & have a few questions ?? first of all im starting my mobile spray tanning very soon as i have done my training & also have my kit...Im not sure what to use when it comes to standing in the cubicle sticky feet pads or not ?? & i always seem to use 100ml or more on each person when i have been practising can someone please help...

I am new to spray tanning as well, I think it is all down to experience, as your technique gets better and you are more comfident, I think the amount of solution used per tan will improve, as for sticky feet, I use couch roll, in the area I am competition is high, and from a pricing point of view it is more cost effective not to have the added expence, I have researched places nearby and found that they also don't use sticky feet, so maybe it's a good idea to find out in your are what solution is used' cost and what is used during application' that way you can decide yey or nay for things such as sticky feet , good luck with your new spray tanning business hth x

I do agree that with time your technique will improve and you will adapt it to suit you and your clients needs so that they end up with a perfect tan.
But, if you are using 100ml of solution each time I would suggest a little more practising (dont mean to sound rude), its normally around 35-50ml per customer, any more and you may see running and in addition it will take a lot longer to dry. Also, as you are practising (and if you are using a colour guide) maybe you are spraying more so that you can see the colour going on. I would suggest turning your dial down and just go for it and see if you use a little less.
As for stickey feet- I always use them, yes it is a little expensive but I think it makes me stand out from others and adds a little more luxury to the treatment.
x

Thank you this really helps. Do u just put some barrier cream on the soles of your clients feet & also couch roll, Can i also ask without being so annoying :)
which barrier cream do you use ??
Thank you x

And also do i have to strip my gun everynight to clean xx

I'd advise against using couch roll for the simple reason when you apply cream to your clients feet or even if your clients feet are a little sweaty they will stick to the couch roll. A nightmare when you're asking them to turn different directions. Personally I'd use sticky feet or black towels.

thanks for the advice....i think sticky feet pads are really expensive i bought mine from sienna x.
Can i ask im spraying my friend tomorrow & she is so pale with freckles shoul i stand way back or just do as normal xx

Its not unusual to use more solution than is necessary at the offset...although 100ml is quiet excessive.
The thing is to get into your head a trust in the solution...you dont spray tan the customer brown...just spray them and let the solution do the work.
In an ideal scenario you should use between 35-50ml solution.

Just keep practicing...hold the gun 6-8 inches away from the skin surface(dependent on your speed of movement of course)...turn that output dial down a qtr turn after each spray tan application until you get down to ....say 50ml...do that milestone and the rest will follow.

Oh and if you want to be professional...use sticky feet
Good luck:hug:

There are a lot of companies that sell sticky feet...we don't train using barrier creams because ,for general use,if your technique is correct you dont really need to use it...only use a barrier(or moisturiser if you have a customer with particularly bad dry excessive dead skin)

You shouldn't strip your gun down every night,...simply flush it through every night of course.

Only need to fully strip down every month or dependent on the number of tans you do every couple of months,,,.....over cleaning of your gun, particularly in hard water areas can in fact cause more problems than it cures....remember to lube your needle when you do strip i down...some professional lube or even Vaseline will do the trick nicely.

thanks for letting me know ;) but if i dont use barrier cream will there palms, elbows feet etc not go alot darker like orange....I got told to strip my gun everynight. I done my training with sienna x but this is all new to me so its less hassle as for stripping the gun thanks.
& also can i ask what is the vaseline for does this help the solution come through better thank you.

Palms of the hands absolutely not if they hold them correctly when spraying...the only real dangers therefore of "grabbing" to the palms is if they touch themselves during the first night when the tan is still developing...get them to simply apply a moisturiser before retiring to bed.

Knees and elbows...if proper exfoliation is undertaken before the spray tan application there should be no dry dead skin here to "grab solution"...that said if you have a customer with excessive dry skin then a light application of a light moisturiser to the effected area will help create a barrier.....barrier creams by virtue of what they are create a "barrier" ...preventing "grabbing" but to the same token create a white patch....a balance need to be found.

Thank you for the advice i'll keep practising.....Hopefuuly it shouldnt take to long x

I never use anything under my tent, i'm sure once you have done a few tans you will feel more confident

Where abouts in Newcastle do you live? If its not far from Morpeth your very welcome to come thro and see how myself and Frankey67 (who replied above) do our tanning, if you bring your kit to the salon we can have a look and work out together where you need to set your gun....you can watch each of us spray and maybe pick up a few tips. I did my training with tantrick about 4 years ago and Frankey67 trained elsewhere but was having problems so re-trained with Tantrick a few months ago and never looked back. I know how frustrating it can be when things dont work as you want them to so if you do want a trip thro just pm me and we can arrange something. hth:wink2:

I will agree with collin and others, it is very easy to fall into the trap off thinking that if you do two coats it's better, but I find if you do your techinque properly and trust your solution, you should use no more than 50ml max, per person. I always waft over after my application and never use more than 50ml,,
