Need help thinking of a business name (beauty)

Hi,

I am starting up my own business, going to be renting a room in a hair salon. I need help with trying to think of a name. I have been trying to think, but I can't come up with anything original. Totally stumped I don't want anything with my name in it, (like "Jess's Beauty Salon" or anything like that) and I want something a little different, a bit unique, but I need some fresh ideas, if anyone can help!

I will be doing waxing and tinting, spray tanning, makeup, ear piercing, maybe facials, and probably massage.

My boyfriend has suggested "Wax On, Wax Off", which I think is great, unique, and a little funny too. But it also comes across as if I only offer waxing, so I'm a little unsure about it.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hi when i look back to opening my first salon it took me ages to come up with a name. My advice is don't rush "wax on wax off" will imply you only do waxing and some people will not get it!
I called my first salon Savannah everyone loved it cos it was different back then, bit exotic for the area they wanted to know what we did so got clients in the door. I think look around you, do lots of research ask people what they think.
When you have a sign some people don't look at the name just at what it says you do!
Did you watch Graham Norton last night Mary Portas was on talking about hair & beauty salon's having worst business names ever! lol

its a hard thing to decide on because once you've decided your pretty much stuck with it.
I think wax on wax off is great! But i get your point about just looking like you just do waxing.
You could always add Beauty at the end of it.
"wax on, wax off Beauty" then is a bit more open!

Hey Jess, I've read that "Lenkunya" is the Australian Aborginal word for "beautiful" however it might get used a lot when it comes to the Austrailian beauty industry?
Just an idea!

When I was trying to come up with a name it was real frustrating cause nothing sound right. So I typed any english word related to woman or beauty and tranlated them into different languages until I had one that sounded unique. Well the only thing that worked at the end was to take my name (Adele) and the word "Allure" and combined it to Dellure. I know you don't want to use you name, but it might give you something to work from by trying to combine or translate words that reflects you, what you do and that might draw attention. Hope it works out girl.

Thanks for all your replies guys! All great ideas. Yes, once I decide on a name, I am pretty much stuck with it, that's why it's so hard to think up something good, something different! Hmm. All I have in my list so far is Wax On Wax Off, and Black Beauty because anyone who knows me, knows my favourite colour is black (but I'm not quite sure about that, because I don't want anyone to get offended, or to be un PC if you get what I mean). Hmm...I will keep thinking. Thanks for your help guys

Thinking of my business name was the hardest part of setting up my business.
My business advisor come up with mine 'Beauty Within' because it is within a hairdressers.

iv got the same differculty i do acrilic nails and waxing spray tanning but i want a name that is suitable for men and women including cross gender clients :hug: but like u dont want to affend anyone il b doin mobile tho and i live in wales plenty ov beaches any ideas

I think Wax on wax off is perfect if your specialising in waxing. If your favourite colour is black how about Jet Beauty? Black Beauty is not offensive but I think would imply that your specialising in afro caribbean beauty. A dance school my daughter went to is called Topaz Dance Academy as the Topaz was the owners birthstone.

The name will come to you when you least expect it. Mine popped into my head while I walking home from work. I got in the house and bought the domain name the same evening. Good luck :green:

I do like Beauty Within & love The Beauty Room then if you ever went onto have a salon you could add an "s" & call it the Beauty Rooms. x

You haven't given much information on what your salon is about. Choosing a name is a form of marketing to your target market and helps give out the message of what you are about. E.g If you want an upmarket salon then with over 50's professionals then "Glitzy Beauty" may not be appropriate nor "La Coiffure Salon" for younger working class people as French is seen as classy and expensive. Research your niche markets and it will make it easier to choose a name suitable for your business.

I like Jet Beauty, like sukic suggested. Mines Soda Beauty & Blow Dry Bar because I couldn't have Soda on it's own. I adore fizzy drinks, I'm drinking a coke right now and redbull is my fave- tho I'm a healthy veggie that doesn't drink loads or smoke so don't judge, lol!

I love looking at nail polish/makeup shade names as they are always really different and inspirational. My fave polish shade when I was 10 was 'Inky' a dark navy blue and I probs loved that name more than the colour itself!
