Ok I'll try and describe this the best I can.

I recently bought what look like tiny coloured discs for my nail art box, they are adorable but i'm having a real problem encasing them.

My client today wanted pink and white with teal discs, so I applied the white thinly and them pressed in the discs and overlayed with the pink, but the tips ended up looking chunky.

I have tried pre-mixing them with the white powder but that didn't work.

The little discs seems to stick together:mad:

Anyone used these?

do they look like this....? I think the trick with encasing is to leave the free edge or wherever you want to encase thin...then build on top of it...when i did this nail below, i had only a lick of product on first then the coloured disks and then built it up.

Thanks Angie, yeh thats what I tried to do but it didn't work

They are actually perfectly round and thicker than the sliced glitter you have used??

Beautiful nail by the way:)

I think I know what you mean...do they look a bit like minuture CD discs ?

I have seen pics of these somewhere used on a black tip enhancement, they look lovely,
The only thing I can suggest is to apply your free edge as thin as poss ...then stick the discs to it with a tiny dot of resin, just to make sure that when you place your clear l+p over the top, the discs don't move, because if this happens I think a small amount tends to get under the disc, lifting it even higher than to begin with...

Do you find they move at all when overlaying them ?

No not litle cds? I'm not describing them very well, I should take a pic really.

They are so tiny, you can't place them individually, it would take forever! They come in a little pot like the sliced glitter etc. So I use my brush to pick them up and press into the white when its still wet. I am keeping my white as thin as possible.

But you're right Emma, they still seem to be raised?, mainly I think cause they stick together.

So frustrating:grr:

I have done it the way bagpuss says but i have also used my dotting tool to make a slight dent in the product as well so the discs have something to "sit " in before i cap with clear.Hths :)

Aw I use these a lot, they're sometimes called chunky glitter. They won't mix in the powder, you do have to place them on the nail. Your best bet is to do a thin french, apply a thin layer of resin and place them down (if you can place them when the white is still soft, even better because you can slightly push them in) and do a fine clear overlay over them, pretty much what everyone else has suggested.

I tend not to place them at the end of the tip, but more near the smile line, where you can be a bit thicker with your product. When you go to file, only file enough so that the product is smooth and the shape and form is ok, then go onto buffing and shining. If you overfile, the stones could fall out.
