Prom is almost here & I just needed a couple tips to perfect some updos... First off when back combing does one normally back comb first and then curl the hair or vice versa? Another problem I'm having is styling fine hair that has flyaways... When I curl their hair always doesn't look perfect theres a lot of little loose hairs that just make it look messy... I am using a heat protectant with hold...

For fine flyaway hairs I use pomade.

After curling I rub a small amount in hand and work it through the curls

One of the girls in my college class who is well known for updos swears by back combing then curling then when ready to start putting up she coats hands in blaze, it's a pomade made by black and white. Can get it in Sallys, not very expensive. I've never seen a hair out of place or flyaways and they never look greasy either. Haven't tried it myself but next day I have time I will be getting dolly out to practice on.
