I have just started at a new salon self employed a few months ago although I have been doing waxing for about 4 years. I've got my own wax now which is a warm vanilla cream wax . About 3 times now I have left a small graze like sore on there eyebrow and once on an underarm which they have said was sore. All these people have had it done a few times before with the wax and I always check the temperature I just can't figure out what is going wrong and it's so embarrassing and not good as I have just gone self employed and I'm trying to get established . Can anyone help me :( please :'( !!! x

did you say its a new wax you are using? sometimes i find some wax really hard to get along with...try using fabric strips? x

I find that hot wax used with a little oil underneath much better for both brows and underarms than strip waxing. If I ever have a brow wax with strip wax I always get skinned no matter who does it but I never have any problem when its done with non strip wax for these areas.
Do you use oil underneath your wax at the moment?

Jack

I prefer hot wax but if you use strip wax, apply a tiny amount of oil before you apply the wax. Then make sure that your wax is as hot as possible but not so hot that it burns the client. Then apply your strip to half the width of area rather than across the whole width. Make sure that you give the strip a good firm rub and really stretch the skin when your remove. That should help.

I always test the heat of my wax when I do eyebrows or anything on the face - I don't care how well I know my waxes (I'm still a relative beginner on here :) ) - because it's going on the face I WANT to know the temperature is ok. Like Kim and Jack I use waxes with oils under them - this will help prevent the wax gripping the skin. Between good stretching, temp checking and oil I've not had a graze yet :) *touches wood!!!!*

Making sure you pull the strip off parallel to the skin helps. Make sure you stretch then pull it directly back on itself. This way you're not pulling up at the skin which can cause layers of skin to be removed. Hope this helps xx

Sorry to butt in but what kind of oil to do you? I use just a warm wax either with a roller or from the pot. I've heard a few people say to use oil first x

Oh I use warn wax too bit have never used oil ? Never shown this at colege talc but never oil x

I don't know that all waxes are suitable for use with oil - Perron Rigot, Berins and there is one other which I can't remember the name of, sorry - all recommend using oil on the skin and not talc - I trained with talc for the strip wax but soon converted to Berins - I guess in theory you could use nearly any oil but PR and Berins both sell a Yasmin oil that is recommended - PRs is a little more fragrant than Berins but both are very good.

You can use any light oil under any wax brands. It makes sense to use the oil that goes with the wax that you use, but if they don't do one, any light oil such as jasmine oil will be fine.

At the moment I only use warm cream wax what would be your best suggestion for warm wax I seem well out of the loop with waxing ;( I tried got wax once on my partner pit me off a bit till I have had specialist training ;) sorry for the hijack this has helped me alot so far x

I would try using talc on the brows before hand, and try doing smaller sections too. :)
