Hello everyone,

I done all my qualifications with a beauty school about a month ago now, I work from my house as I've made my own salon and mobile.
I don't feel like my trainer taught me nearly as much as I should know, I feel really in the dark about everything and any advice would be brilliant..
I am qualified in individual eyelash extensions, hair extensions, gel nails, spray tans and waxing!

In the first instance, could you not speak to your trainer with your concerns? It's their responsibility to provide that knowledge if it's still so soon after your course

I tried but I've had a lot of problems with contacting my trainer since my courses, she doesn't reply to any of my messages so I've had to give up after weeks of no replies

I'm sorry, but in this case, you're simply not ready without further training.

Could you maybe try working in a salon to get some experience? That's a lot of things to be qualified in if you still feel in the dark about everything.

Did one course cover everything or did you do several short courses?

I do feel this industry is lacking regulation - I know we're not performing operations here but to take money for courses that are clearly inadequate is just not on.

Who was your training provider? :)

I have a full time job so I just do my beauty alongside that so therefore can't work in a salon :( I just feel so lost. I can complete the treatments and there doesn't seem to be any problems for nay clients but it's the aftercare, where to buy all supplies etc, I'm just not confident enough. I would book new training but I've just spent over a £1000 and I just haven't got the money for any more courses at the moment as I spent all my saved money. I don't want to say my training provider as I don't want to say anything bad about anyone!

I know exactly how you feel.
I only qualified Feb/March and it's alot to take in in such a short space of time. I felt the same, Where do I get my stuff? what stuff should I get? If you trained with a non branded company like I did it is also difficult to know which brands are any good or live up to the hype.

I used what I was trained with (nails only) on family so I could build my confidence and technique while googleing wholesalers in my are who only supplied to professionals also researching the brands, while working at my other job. When I then saved up enough I had a 1to 1 with a brand and that way you cover what you want, go over the areas you feel uncertain about. There are companies online that are professional only that deliver if you have no wholesalers near you, only 1 or 2 near me, some do sample kits some don't. watch youtube reviews and how to's on the products you interested in. The big brands do seem more expensive training wise but so worth it, there is always somebody there for you on the end of the phone or pc where as the non branded aren't. Keep practising your confidence will come.

Maybe just concentrate on practicing one of the services you do?
But the practice must be done correctly, or you're just going to develop bad habits. Good luck!

If you use the search function on here you will find lots of threads regarding product preference, maybe order some sample kits and see which you prefer?

I know how you feel, I did some not fantastic training first in gel nails and had to follow up with one to one training plus learn acrylic, ad I did other nail product courses (Shellac & minx). I did a fair bit of floundering around before I discovered this site(12 years ago so actually I didn't even have a PC then!)

Was your course accredited?

Yeah I've started reading up on some threads and they are making me feel better already! (Such a great site!)

Yes my course is accredited by abt

Hi ,

To be honest if you have not had the support after your course and you do not feel that it was thorough enough I really think you should contact ABT with your concerns

If they are accrediting the course then they have a duty of care to make sure those training providers are providing this service at an acceptable level . Clearly in the case they have failed so I really think you should contact ABT
