I think I have got to accept defeat & send my brush to the place in the sky (dont ask) lol

I have ordered my new CND pro styler #8.

I am after some advice for a new brush, what should I do before using it.

I have heard various different ways of preparing it.

Any advice or links (I have searched) would be great.

Thanks All

First thing I do with a new brush is loosen up the starch that's holding it's shape, by wiping on a towel a few times.....then I use my clean fingers seperate and re-wipe the britsles to get all the starch powder out of it before I re-shape in monomer.
I've been told that's the key to a healthy brush....makeing sure all the starch is out before you dip in monomer.
hope this helps

I used to get a piece of couch roll and fold it over a few times then put it between my fingers and thumb kind of like a bridge, then flick the bristles backwards and forwards across it to get the starch out - bet i've confused you now!! lol

always clean in fresh monomer and store lying flat never upright, i've killed a few brushes in my time!! lol

Artsy, you should never touch your bristles hun !. There are oils in your skin which would be very difficult to remove from your brush once you have touched it.

You have to spend a little time preparing your new brush, it is the most important tool of your trade. I use a piece of couch roll and GENTLY ease the arabic gum out of the brush, rolling it between my thumb and forefinger, NEVER touching the bristles with my fingers. It takes time but it is essential to do it thoughroughly. Never splay out the bristles or be too rough with it.

Thx guys ... Im going to try not to kill this one lol

yeah like kate said using fingers is a no no..

also.. give her a few good drinks in a 24 hour period before use.. and give her at least a few sets before you start to feel comfy with her..

good luck and dont forget a name!
