hi, if you want your business to succeed i would do as much research as possible!!
1. look at your competitors and what they are offering and who their clientele are?
2. what sort of salon you want to be and what sort of clientele you are aiming at?
3. what will set you apart from the rest?
4. do a questionnaire and stand in a local shopping centre asking ppl what they would like in a salon
5. cost everything and look at each eventuality that could happen, you need to have money set aside for your personal expenses as you may not be able to draw a wage from the business for 6 months, maybe a year
6. look at how much stock you need to start up and what each suppliers minimum order is
7. will you take staff on?how many?part time or full time
8. accounts, insurance, advertising
it is exciting but also alot to do, it should take you about 6 months to get agood business plan together and costings etc, it wont happen overnight if you want to do it properly
Maybe start off mobile or from home to build up some clients, that way when you open a salon hopefully they will follow you to make it easier at beginnning
whatever you decide, good luck xx
