Here is a question posted by Liz and I thought it was a good one that will make us all think.

"what are the challenges left to you who have been "doing nails" for a few years, they must be quite different to what newbies face - or are they?"

Can we ever know it all?
Will any problems I face in the salon cease completely?
Will life behind the table become boring and stale?
Or do you have other ambitions within the industry?

Can't wait to read your replies :p

People always aks me if I do x-treatment or y-treatment as well as nails and I always answer no - I only want to do nails and do the best nails I can. I want to be known as the only person in my locality who specialises in nails and nothing else.

I also want to be known as the "guru" locally and if anyone has a nail problem then they can come to me for the answer - this is something which will hopefully come as the clients become more aware of what to look for in a nail technician and I suppose this will always be my challenge - to educate the clients through educating myself.

1 Can we ever know it all?

1. NO. After 20 years I still attend training and I always learn something from it.
2. You will still get the odd problems, but you will know how to deal with them without stressing. And people are so diverse that even now I hear something occasionally and think ... now that's a new one!! Clients ... love em.
3. It never has for me. I think because the people you deal with are all so different that they keep it interesting for you. I always loved going to work in the salon.
4. Other ambitions? I think teaching on this site has been one of the most rewarding things Ihave ever done actually. I love it and I love the responses I get in the privat messags people send to me. I treasure the trust you put in me and do not take it lightly. I enjoy the challenge of trying to explain things logically in an easy to understand manner so hopefully no one gets confused!! thanks to the Geek for giving me this forum to carry on doing what I LOVE TO DO THE MOST WHICH IS TO TEACH.

When i first done my training originally 12 years ago i didnt really have any goals, i wanted to do nails purely for the money.

This time around things have changed, athough the money isnt bad lol but its no my sole ambition, I love what i do and i come here and im like a sponge i take in everything and have learnt so much, and have the desire to learn much more so that i can teach others, my main ambition now is to work towards being good enough to teach others, to give them the help i never had originally, i have a passion for what i do every day and it never ever gets stale, like Gigi said every client is different and it makes your whole day so diverse, I look forward going to work every day, and i especially love new clients, chatting with them finding out a bit about them their lifestyles and also educating them and they love it , they love so much that i take the time to educate them!

I wouldnt want to be doing anything else and know there is so many more goals for me to achieve and its exciting knowing that i have so much more to look forward to.
