Okay folks, as promised here are details of the 2nd Geeky Waxing Workshop!! :D

Are you up-to-date with the latest products, techniques and developments in the waxing world? The new generation of non-strip waxes by companies such as Perron Rigot, Lycon, Depileve, Hive and Reference are set to revolutionise the face of temporary hair removal with their advanced formulations and unique “shrinkwrapping” abilities, but their use is currently a little known art within the UK.

With the summer waxing season finally upon us, there’s never been a better time to refresh our knowledge and enhance our skills with a FREE Geeky Waxing Workshop! Hurrah!

DETAILS

Date: NOW MONDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER
Time: 10:00am – 1:00pm OR 2:00pm – 5:00pm
Venue: Thalgo Head Office, Elgin House, 51 Millharbour, Docklands, London E14 9TD
Attire: Professional salon uniform or similar workwear
Cost: FREE OF CHARGE to Geeks

CONTENT
  • Introduction to the new generation non-strip waxes (specifically Perron Rigot, as this is the wax we’ll be using, but most of the techniques also apply to other brands)
  • Refresher on contra-indications and cautions
  • Demonstration of non-strip waxing techniques
  • Play time: practice on fellow attendees
  • Troubleshooting, hints and tips
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Attendees must hold a recognised waxing or sugaring qualification and insurance. As waxing techniques will be practiced on each other, everyone attending the workshop must be prepared to be waxed on the day; please grow underarm and leg hair for at least 2 weeks beforehand (and bikini hair if you’re feeling brave!).

HOW TO BOOK

Sorry folks, this workshop has been and gone - watch the boards for future dates!

SPACES LEFT

Morning session: 0 spaces
Afternoon session: 0 spaces

Wax on!! Andy x :green:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: I’ve never used Perron Rigot waxes before, am I still welcome to attend?
A: Yes, absolutely! The workshop is open to all therapists regardless of the brand you currently use.

Q: Do I have to buy anything on the day?
A: No. Leave your purse at home if you don’t believe me! :D

Q: What the heck is non-strip wax??! What’s so great about this new generation of waxes anyway?
A: You may have heard it referred to as hard wax, peelable wax, film wax or hot wax. Traditional hot wax is applied in a thick layer or built up over several layers, usually in a fiddly figure-of-eight pattern to ensure a thorough coating of all hairs. It is left to cool and harden on the skin and is then removed by hand, taking the hair with it. New generation non-strip waxes share these unique “shrinkwrapping” abilities but are lower in temperature, easier to apply and stay flexible as they cool, making them much more comfortable for the client and an ideal choice for removing short, coarse and stubborn hairs anywhere on the body.

Q: I’ve never used non-strip wax before, is that a problem?
A: Not at all, the course is open to all qualified hair removal technicians, regardless of your level of experience or preferred technique (strip wax, hot wax or sugaring). A full introduction to modern non-strip waxes will be provided, and there will be plenty of time to play with the products and practice your skills during the remainder of the workshop.

Q: Does this workshop cover Brazilian waxing or male waxing techniques?
A: No, although there will be an opportunity to discuss these techniques with fellow attendees. If any Geeks want to offer their husbands or boyfriends for demonstration purposes, however, I will gladly show a few basic techniques for the more commonly requested areas (backs and chests) to whet your appetite! :D

Q: I sent you an email 24 seconds ago and haven’t heard back yet.
A: Patience, my friend. I check my emails several times a day and will get back to you as soon as I can.

Q: What’s in it for you?
A: You can buy me a gin and tonic next time we meet.

Q: What’s the catch?
A: Oh ye of little faith :D There isn’t one, just come along and share the love!

More questions? I live to serve. Please email me or post them here for all to see.

Yorkshire would be ideal Lou, I think we could have a good go, what do you think? Plus it gives me a good excuse for a couple of days away from Basingstoke!! :D

Yay - I am in for the afternoon workshop - thanks Andy! x x x

Cant wait now!

Will try and grow my hair now too! Lets hope my clients like the yetti look!

I'm booked in for the afternoon, not looking forward to finding my way there though.
I'll be arriving at London Kings Cross if anyone else is and wants to find our way together.

It is fine by me, as said before the salon is only small so we wouldn't be able to fit many in but if you wanted you could always use it on the Sunday and the Monday i don't mind at all.
Only wish i could offer you some where to stay as well while you are up here but i don't have the room ( unless you want to sleep in the salon lol ) jokes aside i am sure there will be a kind geek in Yorkshire that will have a spare room and be willing to put you up for a few nights.
Come on Yorkshire geeks we are waiting for the offers

Hi folks,

I'm adding the names of Geeks who are booked onto the course into the first post on this thread - if you would rather not have your name displayed, please just contact me and let me know.

If you've emailed me and your name is not on the list within 24 hours, or if your name is there but you haven't had a confirmation email back from me, please send me a quick PM as your email client may be blocking my messages! :D

Can I please please please put my name down for Geeky Waxing Workshop #3?!

I missed the first one and now i'm gonna miss the second as its my wedding anniversary that day!!!!!!

As tempted as I am to leave hubby high and dry so that I can attend I have a feeling I wouldn't see my next anniversary if I did!!!!!!!!

Can I please please please put my name down for Geeky Waxing Workshop #3?!

Can you also put me down for the 3rd workshop as i will be on holiday for this one!:)

Sorry folks, I've just found out that we need to move our Geeky Waxing Workshop from the original date to Monday 17th September, as Thalgo now need both training rooms on the 10th.

I've messaged those who were already booked on to the 10th, and Sass has very kindly updated this thread with the new details.

Please accept my apologies for the change, unfortunately it's outside of my control and I'm sorry for the frustration this is going to cause. Hopefully we'll still see you all on the 17th (and maybe even a few more who were unable to make the original date!).

Andy x

Sorry to bump this, folks - just wanted to make sure people knew the date had now changed to the 17th September for those who couldn't make the original day. Unfortunately we've lost a few Geeks because of this change, so we have some more spaces available in the morning and afternoon for those who would like to come. :D

Andy thanks for advising about the change. I would still love to come but start college on Monday 17th September now. As I said on your other thread a Northern workshop would be great so if you find a venue I will be there come hell or high water!

Two weeks to go, folks! :D

A quick reminder to throw away those razors and get growing, lol :wink2:

Also, we still have a few spaces left - if people are interested, drop me a line and I'll book you in.

Anybody needing directions, let me know.

Yorkshire Geek here offering a spare room! Can't make London in a day - but would LOVE to do the workshop if it came up here

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came today, it was great to meet you all and share some tips - I hope you had as much fun as I did and found the workshop useful. And as an added bonus I now have two beautifully defuzzed nostrils!!

I'll be emailing some application advice to go with your existing handouts as promised over the next couple of days, but if you have any questions in the meantime you can post them here or send me a PM or private email.

And I must apologise again to poor Sam for physically wounding her with my over-zealous waxing!! I'll never live that one down... :wink2:

Hope you all got home safely.
