New employee help - tax code/iris

wel geeks im at the end of my teather with my accountant ! long story but its been a number of things building up - (in the process of replacing but thats irrelevant today)

We havent really needed him to act quickly on our behalf but now its a problem as we have recently employed people (rather than SE)

they get weekly pay and its a nightmare to get hold of him.


Anyway - thats just to put you in the picture -

so as we are fed up with waiting we decided to do it alone and use a software (IRIS)

Have been trying to phone the hmrc - thats like pulling teeth have phoned 3 numbers with no joy as yet!

So can any of you help

I have the P46 (school leaver - no previous job)

What do i do next??

Is the correct tax code 944l????

Looks like you're probably going to have to persevere with HMRC to make sure you're doing it all right. They'll be quick to get in touch if you're not!

i'm just about to employ my first person, and managed to get hold of hmrc today after some wait.

I would persevere, and be sure it's all ok.

Hello we use sage one we used to use the HMRC database but we had a few nightmare situations! We have 3 employees and 2 are on the 944l tax code. Hth
