New eyelash extension specialist, stressed out!

Hi there! I just recently did a Pure-Lash extension course and found it extremely frustrating. My model that I chose for the class had cream on her face and had really difficult lashes that consisted of a ton of baby lashes. So 4.5 hours later I was done and was dying to go home. Now for my second client I am using my mother in law who's in her 60's and is blonde. So her lashes are extremely thin and white and hard to find. I'm super frustrated and need some advice on how to keep going because I don't want to give up. But I feel very anxious and I only did my mother in laws lashes for 45 mins and she needed a break so I'm gonna try to do another hour with her but I'm not getting many lashes on. Isolating them is tough. Any advice on how to practise without a live model? And preferably not a mannequin head...if anyone knows of any dolls that have eyelashes to practise on.

Hiya hun.
First of all i just want to say well done for not giving up because so many of the girls i know that have done the course have. Eyelashes are my favorite treatment to do but it wasn't always this way. When i started i hated them they were so tedious and time consuming and now i could do them in my sleep. It is all PRACTICE. The more you practice the quicker and more efficient you will become. Regards to your mother in law if you are trained in beauty maybe tint her lashes first so they are easier to see. When i done my course with (novalash & lash perfect) we were told to practice on cluster lashes if we couldn't find models. So maybe you might find that good. But as i said hun its all practice take your time and if you need a breather because of anxiety take one! Models are models for a reason make sure they aren't in a rush and just keep practicing isolating the lash. Dont be too hard on yourself and goodluck hope this has been helpful x

It's all practice I'm afraid! I would recommend you practice on friends and family as practicing on strip lashes just isn't the same really. From what you've said I gather you've barely done two sets yet so you really haven't even begun! Give it a chance, once honed lashes are a fab addition to your beauty business.

Unfortunately, like any other treatment you're going to encounter problems - face cream will be the least of them! As for clients who cant lie still, it does happen but most peeps are quite happy to lie there for a couple of hours, just make sure they're comfortable. You may feel you want to have regular breaks when you're first practicing lashes anyway, it is quite intensive to begin with!

If it makes you feel better my first few sets took about 4/5 hours too and I had several breaks each time! With practice and perseverance you'll get your time down and your confidence up in no time!
