Hi, im a new geek.....

I trained with NSI in april but still have my exam day to do (26th Nov), ive been away on holiday and now im back i really need to get down to it but im finding it really hard to get the time to practice as i have 2 jobs and can only do clients on a night time.
My timeing isnt too bad, im down to around 2 hours depending on the amount of prep the client needs, i find it ok applying the acrylic but when it comes to filing im getting a really bad back and feel as though my clients are getting annoyed with how long it is taking, so the other day i was browsing in boots and seen a revalon drill (says for use for acrylics) it was only £20 and i know its not going to be as good as the drill i will get when qualified but i was woundering if anyone had used the same kind of drill whilst training and if it will be any good as i am a bit nervous trying it out as i dont want to spend time doing clients nails for it all to go wrong.......
Should i carry on filling until i can do drill class or should i try it??????
HELP PLEASE??

Andreena x:)

I would say carry on filing until you do a class, The product you have mentioned is not a professional one and could do more damage than good.
With practise your timing will come down honest :)

keep going with the filing, it will get easier and quicker. there are some great tutorial videos on both nsi uk and nsi us webbies. Also if you got a dvd in your kit keep watching it. i watched and read the same thing over and over until one day it just clicked. stating the obvious but make sure your file isnt too worn out because it will make it alot harder if it is. i learnt that one the hard way lol.
Good luck with your exam

If you really want to do it you will find the time:green: we have all been there hun it does get easier and quicker - promise

for filing practice plonk some acrylic on a tip pushed into a blu tac finger (thanks geeg:hug:) cover it with red or similar polish and then file off, you will find doing lots of these makes you aware of your filing routine

hope this helps and good luck

Have you got the Nail Trainer from Essential Nails (ENP). NSI uses it on some of there courses. Basically the nail trainer is a life like hand with removerable nails. Obviously its not the same as doing it on a real client but its the closest youll get. The other advantages are you dont have to constantly do full sets, you can just do one nail etc, so it means you can fit it alot more practice and if you have anything you want to try out without "messing up" you can do it as unlike client the nail trainer never complains!!

hope this helps

Hi Andreena ....

Want to practice product application for the small cost of 50 pence?? This is the trick dellaznails was saying thank you for in the post above.

Buy some blue tac ... roll into a finger sized 'log' and push a tip into the blue tac and then lower onto the log firmly and squeeze together. PERFECT!! No having to apply and blend tips every time you just want to practice smiles or product application and no huge outlay of money.

I get all my students onto this trick and it is brilliant and costs nothing. You can practice everything apart from tip blending. It is realistic and easy. Enjoy ... I just saved you a heap of dosh.
