Ok, so I am calling again my beloved pro's who have always helped and might know better whether it's time for a new stylist or not in my case: as I wrote a while back, I have been a highlift blonde for 4 years, and have recently been to a new stylist, who has about 4 years of practice, who got me to a nice bright level 9 with the highlift, but didn;t get it right at all with the toner (I asked for a cool blonde, she chose an ashy violet tone, from Alfaparf, came out super dark, grey, dull, and sadly even a bit khaki...). I have been washing my hair a lot but almost a month later, I am still too dark. Sooo...I am pondering whether to keep going to the same stylist a second time, hoping we will try a different toner and it will turn cool, Yet not so dull OR going to a diff. stylist, who has been reccomended by a coworker (her hair looks really nice), and who is a more experienced, mostly color specialist. What would you, as pros, suggest? could a second round of not so great toner ruin things completely? Thank you so much in advance!

I cannot talk about your hair's integrity with further processes without seeing it and assessing it. But I would always suggest a more experienced stylist for big jobs like this. I never would let anyone under 10 years experience touch my hair, unless I am ok not being so picky about it. Check their INSTA, look at their work... check YELP and Google Reviews. Look for common names in reviews for the best person in the best salon. You get what you pay for. I know it's a struggle finding a hair home. Been through it finding a nail home. Finally did after sooooooo long of trial and errors. <3

It sounds like you've kind of already made up your mind, but you're looking for reassurance.
You really wasn't happy with the colour last time from memory. If you don't feel confident that the current hairdresser can achieve what you're asking for now is the time to change.
Sometimes I would completely disagree and say give them another chance - we're only human we all get things a little wrong some times. But if you don't feel like you have that trust in someone then it's always better to move on in the hope that you will find someone you can trust.
This is a very difficult decision for anyone else to make.
I would agree and disagree that someone who's been in the industry longer might be better suited to the task. Simply because there are plenty of hairdressers with 20+ years experience who still chose the wrong colour or cut someone's hair too short, or over processed their highlights. There are also hairdressers who have only 4 years experience under their belt, but have spent a lot of time on money on education in those 4years and could very well be top of their game.
My best advice would be to book a consultation with whoever you feel more confident. If you're unsure book a consultation with both and then make your decision after that.
There's no right or wrong way to do this because ultimately its your hair and its your choice.
Whichever hairdresser you chose, I hope you get the colour you ask for

Save pics on your phone of what you want first.
Did you feel confidence with the last stylist? Or did you get any feeling she was winging it or playing it safe with her colour choices? If any of those then go somewhere else but if you’ve had a good rapport and it was only the toner then be up front and explain and pop in and see what she would do to rectify it.
I’m a stylist and I always ask my clients to be upfront with me - The best relationships I’ve had with clients are the ones where we’ve discussed at great lengths, and spent time getting to where they needed to be - some colours are impossible on one visit.
And if any customer wants a change it can be a very slight change in highlight placement that’ll fix something or as in your case a different approach to the whole thing may be needed but I’d rather be told and work with you.
but again it comes down to the stylists level of confidence and your trust in her.
I don’t agree their time served is a guide for stylist ability - in my many years I had very very few high lift clients so not as experienced in that area. We had some amazingly talented junior technicians too who were trained really well. One of other girls had pastel blonde hair herself so she was always recommended by the receptionist when clients were booking. don’t be afraid to ask receptionist when booking their recommendations who would be best to go to. Best of luck!
