Hi ya, I'm new to the indusrty and was wondering if i could get some advice from anyone.
I have completed the ciate gel nails foundation course which i loved and i would love to start doing nails for some extra money but all my family and friends expect me to theirs for nothing however its costing me a fortune so i was wondering if anyone else had or has this problem what should i do and i dont want to be mean to them. Also if i do start doing nails for others how much should i charge for everything as i am only starting out.

Thanks for the help sorry for goin on a bit:)

i do my mum for free (well i say i exchange nails for babysitting )
and a few close friends i do half price but other than that i do full price!

what i did was send an email round to my few close friends to explain id have to cover my costs and altho i had to charge them id do it half price
and all my other friends that i do full price i emailed accross the news i had qualified as a nail technician and put my prices below so there was no confusion
it can be awkward if friends ask for discount, just explain it costs ALOT to train set up and you are doing it as a business!

I'd say it was your family and friends who are being mean to you by taking advantage and not at least offering to pay for the products you are using on them.

In my opiniion it is best not to work on family or friends unless they ask YOU. If they ask then they will expect to pay.

Charge a tenner to practise but let everyone know from the very beginning it will only be for 3 months and that is the end of it.

why not buy a Nail Trainer from Essential Nails and practice to your hearts content, then you'll be good enough to charge top price (less family discount!!)
