I have just had my minx a couple of days ago and had a little play with it. I've done two sets on toes two on hands. The first set on the toes went okay considering they were my own. Next came hands on a stylist with very short nails. Third toes after a full pedicure. Now come all the questions those raised:

1.When you file off the excess minx the edge seems somewhat raggedy if you now what I mean. I sort of expected smooth. Is that normal? Also you can see the natural nail underneath the minx when looking from the front. Also normal?

2. How do you hold your minx file, i.e. perpendicular to the free edge or at an angle? If angled roughly what angle? I find it really difficult to tell from the video.

3. Do you file back and forth?

4. From the full pedicure I learned that i cannot do a massage before applying minx even with nail dehydrator. (I use foot butters) Could I use these after applying minx? Can I use solar oil after minx?

5. How and when do you do any cutting of the minx? I have applied, pushed down to get a crease in the nail groove, lifted bits that touched the skin slightly and then cut and pushed back down. Is there a better way? I am struggling with cutting before applying.

6. Could I seal the free edge with Axxium soak off? Any point in doing so?

Sorry for the length of this.

No, its normally smoothe. Its all in the way you file it.
2. How do you hold your minx file, i.e. perpendicular to the free edge or at an angle? If angled roughly what angle? I find it really difficult to tell from the video.
I file at about a 45 degree angle, with my file under the free edge if that makes sense and only file in one direction. Pulling downwards.

3. Do you file back and forth?
I always file in one direction, downwards. For toe nails i dont file before application and i use nail clippers to cut the free edge once the minx is on. this creates a nice clean smooth free edge.

4. From the full pedicure I learned that i cannot do a massage before applying minx even with nail dehydrator. (I use foot butters) Could I use these after applying minx? Can I use solar oil after minx?
i always massage after applying minx, and yes i always solar oil too :)

5. How and when do you do any cutting of the minx? I have applied, pushed down to get a crease in the nail groove, lifted bits that touched the skin slightly and then cut and pushed back down. Is there a better way? I am struggling with cutting before applying.
I normally apply the minx as a whole piece and then gently trim when it is on the nail, eg with nail scissors or nippers.

6. Could I seal the free edge with Axxium soak off? Any point in doing so?
I did once try sealing with CND brisa gloss and found it just came straight off as it doesnt adhere to a shiney surface. There is no need really, as long as they are applied in the correct way they should last perfectly fine without.

Have fun with minx, its great stuff, i use it all the time, just takes a bit of practice untill you find your way of doing it, im sure other geeks will have different ways to tell you but fir me i do it the way i just said and have no probs. xxxxxx

Thanks for your reply. So sealing the tip with clear overlay gel on fingers makes no difference then? I have read that you can cut the excess off with the scissors and then reuse the cut off. I think Gigi does it? would you cut flush with the nail or leave it a bit longer folder around the free edge and file then? Or no need for filing?

Sorry hun i've only just seen your reply. No i don't think gel top coat makes any difference. I have never trimmed the length to be honest, i use the whole piece. I size up and apply in one and don't pull but gently fold over the end of the nail. I then do all ten nails this way. Take them out of the heat for filing. Then back under the heat once filed and check all edges are stuck firmly with a rubber ended cuticle pusher. X x x
