Hi

I have recently completed the Creative foundation course and I am trying to start up a mobile nail technician business!
I have bought my domain name and got some business cards done but I was hoping people could give me some suggestions to kick start things up...as I am feeling things are starting VERY slowly!!!

I had a look on the internet and could only find 1 other mobile nail technician in my area and she wasnt offerrign creative so I think I have a good product.......but how am I going to get my name out there!!!

HELP!!!!

make the most of the beautiful weather we're finally having and go stick some flyers through peoples doors................

i also went to all my local hair salons etc. who didn't already offer nails services and asked them if i could leave my business cards/flyers on their reception desk, most were very accommodating

local papers also normally offer a fairly cheap local services listing, or do you have a parish church newsletter where other local businesses advertise - these things always work well for me x

thanks that sounds like a really good idea I will get out and see if I can put my cards in hairdressers at the weekend.

Leaflets have been mentioned before so will try and get some printed...just a case of trying not to spend too much money before I start making some back..but I guess you have to speculate to accumulate hey....xxxxx

If you dont have the funds for a door-to-door leaflet drop just try putting a small well designed leaflet in places where they will be seen by lots of people ie: post offices, parish council notice boards, corner shops and supermarkets also have notice boards and only charge a nominal fee, pubs etc. This approach worked quite well for me. If you can afford to have a quantity of leaflets printed your local free newspaper will usually deliver at a reasonable cost if you dont have time to go door to door. They can also cover a wider area in a shorter time. Hope you do well and Good Luck

thanks I am definitely going to get some leaflets done then sounds like it will be a good investment.

Thanks for all your help...all suggestions are gratefully received!

xx

You could offer to do a free set of nails for the hairdressers who are happy to advertise your posters in their salon, if their clients see their nails and like them they are going to say "I love you nails, who did them" hey presto, new client to you!" Only a suggestion, but you never know :)

hi, i am in the same position as yourself, just qualified, i too have got website and business cards and in the process of getting leaflets done. I have invested in all the Minx products and am findnig that this is a great way to get yourself known. A friend of mine is a mobile hairdresser so she is wearing some and anyone who asks she gives them my business card. also i have put them on my sister and she goes out a lot so they are getting attention there aswell. i myself wore them to pub at weekend and soooo many people asked what they were. even if it starts a conversation you then tell them the other services you offer and it really does help. even if you dont want to invest in minx right now, a couple of free treatments for business owners or social friends really works. HTH's x

I am definitely interested in the minx products - did you get training or did you teach yourself? Katie Elllison is going on maternity leave shortly who is my most local trainer so not sure if I will have time to fit it in..also how much did it cost for the equipment...lamp etc????

XX

They dont offer training currently so I just watched the online tutorial and geeg's step by step guide, they are really straightforward. I paid £80 for the lamp from Sweet Squared and got myself a couple of files which are about £6 each, bought a few different designs for now and hoping to get some more soon. Some people have just used a hairdryer for now until they get the hang of things. Whereabouts on the wirral are you? I am in north wales, buckley so not too far away. Katie was my trainer too, I'm on a spa manicure/pedicure training day with her tomorrow so can ask when she is finishing for mat leave x

hey I am on the spa day tomorrow too, so you can give me some info and advice on the Minx course..I am in Heswall so only up the road from you, in fact I am doing my friends nails in Hawarden tonight!!!

see you tomorrow
xx
