This is my 1st post. I just opened my own nail salon last Monday and it was awsome, until Thursday I had my 1st fullset, it was a disaster!!!!! I had acrylic all over her cuticle and I couldn't even buff out the large "hills and valleys" in the acrylic.
I can not find a balance on working the acrylic to wet or to dry. To dry it turns out to thick and to wet it runs all over the cuticle.
I can't expect people to pay me for services that I can't perform properly, as well as, my shop is in a very small town where everybody talks and luckly the client that I did the fullset on was a walkin passing through.
If I can't get my technique together I will not have a business in this town.

Also, due to my shop being small I have decide to try the dipping method due to odor, but I haven't ever tryed that method before.
I think it would be a great decision for me to go ahead and take cont. ed on this matter, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!:irked:

You don't say in your post, how much training and practise you have had before opening your salon, who did you train with etc, can you not arrange to go back to your trainer and do a refresher course. Let us know more then perhaps we can advise you further.

Sorry, I did very well in training, I actually placed 3rd in my first fantasy nail art competition. while in school I did pretty good with it. I have lost my confidence with it and can not get back with it.
I have never be completely cmfortable with a brush, I am currently using #22.
My instructor is no longer with the school I trained at and they do not have a new one for nail tech, so I am a lost puppy trying to find it's way home!!!!

Maybe your small salon is hotter/colder/draughtier than you have been used to which could explain why you are having trouble with you mix ratio. What ever you do, dont panic, if you did well at school you are obviously capable, get some practice in before you next client and I really do wish you all the best.

Hey, girl! You KNOW you can - you've already done it many times! When it comes to you confidence now, it is always hard when you start doubting yourself.
As mentioned from another - maybe the temperature/environment is different in your salon. What about getting a Nail Trainer? You can try the whole thing out in your salon, without being afraid of what a client or model would think (and tell others ) You can buy one on ebay, that'll save you some money, and you can get it quick. Spend the whoooooole day trying out your mix ratio and get som confidence back, and Im SURE you'll get it and be able to service your clients in the best way. Good luck!

also dont forget , you will have been mega nervous , with it being your salon etc.. sometimes when its the 1st client with your business you get so nervous your nails seem to go to pot , hth x

One of the things I always advise someone who is experiencing the problems you are having is to work with much smaller beads of product than you are doing now.

Use many smaller beads for control if you are chasing around large amonts of product. Many small beads that are the right mix are better than 1, 2 or 3 beads that are too big and the wrong mix.

If you do this, then your mix will improve, you will regain control of your product, and you will not have the problems that you are plagued with now.
