Hi All,

So the situation I’m in is my partner runs a successful all be it small beauty salon within a larger hairdressers, we are now in the position to buy the Hair salon its located in. The price the salon is for sale however is more than enough to set up and fit out a new building containing my partners existing beauty business as well as a new hair dressers.

My question to you all is we know the beauty side inside out, however the hair side is going to be new and I want to know if my forecasts are realistic. We will be employing 3 stylists one being a senior and also one junior; they all with the exception of the junior have some working clients to bring however I’m sure they will lose some. The questions I have are follows:

· We are aiming for each stylist eventually to cover £120.00 - £150.00 per day, is this realistic?
· How much a senior stylist should be paid?

I know this may seem like quite simple questions but i just want some
reassurance with my figures.

Thanks All!

Have you thought of renting a couple of chairs to the hairdressers instead of employing them?

If you can employ stylists with clients then it it a great head start. Your expectations are a little low, figure wise. Chair renting is not a substitute for employing as
1. you give away the clientele that you are paying to buy

2. the stylists fix their working time, not you, and as a non hairdresser you cannot cover them

3 You will earn far less from them.

When you buy the salon, the existing owner will give you salary details for the employees.
