Hi you guys.
Don't manage to get on here very often as we are so busy.
Opened three months ago and so far we have been really busy(keeping everything crossed that we stay that way.....although October has been a little quieter but steady).
I have a bit of a problem with the Tantrick leaflets and marketing stuff and even in fact the name.
Before everyone shoots me down I have no problem with the solution I think it is fab and the customer service is excellent, I can't rate it highly enough.
I just think all the leaflets etc with the girl in the pink bikini look a bit cheap and tacky and I have had a few comments from clients about the name Tantrick also (I am sure you have all heard of tantric sex ???)
I have a friend who works in marketing and she thought exactly the same and even went on to say that she thought the pink bikini girl would be more at home in an edition of "nuts"....and the overall impression it was giving off was "cheap".
I have spent lots of time and effort on getting everything just right with branding and image etc. for the salon and this is the one thing that lets it down...I actually cringe when I have to give out one of the aftercare leaflets to some of the older clients.
Thing is I am not sure what to do ,I did initially try a few other solutions which just did not compare but whose marketing stuff was much more classy and decided to go with the tantrick which at the time didn't concern me too much (I had never heard of Tantric sex then....lol).
If it wasn't for the name I could just have my own aftercare and information leaflets printed, but there is not much I can about the name.
The spray tanning side has not been as busy as I thought it would and I think I am just realising now that it is because the clients have a problem with it and see the brand as cheap......which couldn't be further from the truth I know as the actual product itself is fantastic.
Thoughts appreciated.

I like this thread

I have been thinking the same thing with Tantrick & Siennax.

I have an ad in a paper and business is Vslow with the spray Tanning....im pretty sure its to do with as you have correctly pointed out...the IMAGE.

I purchased the Siennax car magnets............I have the men smiling and the women scowling at my nice flashy car with the magnets on...so I have resorted to not using them...as I felt wooooh....a minute, the women who I really want to appeal to are glaring at my car with these magnets on, so what does that tell us!

The colour is Fab and does stay well if preparation is good(as with all the tans).

Anyway, I do think you have a point...........

Thanks so much for the reply....I was a bit worried that some people might think it was a bit of a weird post, but I really do have concerns about it.
I had never heard of "tantric sex" until one client mentioned it and I had to look it up on the net (I have obviously led a very sheltered life !!).
I do think the name and the pink bikini girl are very off putting to women, especially the slightly older, more sophisticated ladies.Someone almost went as far as to say the picture looked ever so slightly pornographic as she seems to be thrusting her "gusset" in your face(their words not mine)
I am really not sure what to do as although the product itself is excellent this is not the sort of image I want to be giving to people.
Any more thoughts on what to do would be very much appreciated.

After reading your thread again and reading through my own reply, I am thinking for the sake of my business I will have to change...I do offer A-Tan at the mo as well...but that is not even well known and I have problems with that fact.

I was thinking of introducing a tan like Fantasy Tan.....its been around for a few years and has a solid following base...at the end of the day..all spray tan solution contains the same ingredients to get the base tan, Im sure. Its what they must add such as perfumes etc to make it unique to them as a supplier of the product.

Hi there

I too am a Tantrick user. My experience with the advertising has been the opposite of yours tho! Everyone (male and female) seems to love the Tantrick lady and the women especially are always joking that perhaps I can airbrush them to look like her!

It certainly hasn't had a detrimental effect on my business.

Just a thought...

Maybe the way you feel about tantrick is influencing your clients? If your feeling negative about it it will show to your clients. In turn tanning will not be popular because of the above reasons.

Just a thought from a non tantrick user!

I happen to like the girl to be honest!

This is my experience too... ALL my clients love the lady and the guy too... both are very sexy but not smutty. They are both young, vibrant and gorgeous so what is there not to like? :)

To be honest the younger clients don't seem to have a problem with it but I am finding that the more sophisticated 35+ ladies do,indeed it is those that have commented on it and when that happens and I am getting negative vibes about it I am not going to sit back and do nothing.
My own personal preferences don't really come in to it at the end of the day its about the clients and what they expect.
In fact until I started getting comments although I wasn't keen on the marketing stuff it didn't bother me unduly.

Thanks for your comments becki........although I am perhaps feeling negative about the marketing stuff I certainly don't feel negative about the actual product and think it's great.I always "wear" a tantrick tan and far from being negative about it always promote it and how wonderful it is.

Well - I dont personally have an issue with the Tantrick marketing material, but then I dont use their material a great deal to advertise the spray tans that I do. The clients of mine that have the spray tans are on average 30+. Over the summer I was happy with the amount of spray tans I was doing, but it has tailed off now, but I dont think that this time of year is the best for this service.

Saying that I would always like to do more spray tans though, so perhaps this is an issue but it has never been mentioned by my clients.

Hi Fliss,
I do recall the discussion we had on the Tantrick branding issue some weeks ago now and your relevent observations have actually been taken on board.
Firstly I must say that as time has now progressed since we took over the brand we have now begun to get a better understanding and feel for what you guys are saying.
I agree that the liquid is superb and I also have to compliment Mandy's choice of branding...its simply superb ;0))

It is difficult to cater for all tastes when producing a brand identity however there is always "room for comprimise and improvement with anything"
We will continue with the goergouse guy/girl imagery theme as this seems to generally be liked by the majority of our customers....however and to cater for a more neutral taste range we are producing aditional sales support flyers/posters which will incoperate both a more conservative image and the 4 flower design from our logo...( as the new Tantrick operators badge imagery)we feel confident that this addition to the core design will allow us to cater for most tastes.

In terms of availibility of this new material please bear with us as there are numerouse Tantrick related items we are currently working on to further improve things however we hope to have this available in time for the new season.

Please do offer any further ideas or suggestions you feel apropriate in assisting us with the Tantrick brand.
Thank you for your continued support.
