Hi girls,

Just wanted to introduce myself really and ask for advice. Just passed gel nails with a distinction which Im really pleased about,I do my own nails and daughters with no probs but did my first paying customer about 10 days ago for her 40th birthday which she seemed really pleased about at the time and booked in for a maintenance. She did say that she was going on hols and doing lots of swimming etc.

Just got an email off her saying she lost 4 on thursday which was a week after I did them and took the rest off because of cracking down the sides on 2 of them. She has cancelled her maintenance appointment. Said she will have them done at xmas and just for special occasions. Dont know which way to take it ie. she hated them or it just happened because of loads of swimming etc lifted them.

I know you have to have thick skin when starting a business but just a bit upset. Do you guys have problems like this?

WEll one thing you have to know and understand is that nails that are done and built correctly do not come off in water which will not cause lifting either if they are on in the first place. Good lord, who'd wear them if they did?

Structure, balance and correct preparation are all things that lead to longevity. Learning how to implement these subtleties is all important and takes time and lots of clients who will let you learn with them and more education .... much more education.

i unders stand your probily dis heartened but your only starting out and will always have some teething problems ,i have found with gels your inital training is just the start and its need to be built on with pracrtise, experience and regular training! as your sets had no problems before it may be just a case that your not used of working with the different nail types or simpley having problems with finding the right balance for your client as all clients differ.......its important too that you give you client good after care advice so that they can take care of them properly at home!

dont let it put you off though,it can take many sets and many down falls to perfect your technique and you will learn from these mistakes along the way!!:)
