HI! I am a 7 months new Nail technician and I have numerous clients that are nail biters.I have "ONE" that keeps coming back for repairs because she pops 1 -3 nails rite off? And I mean rite off, not a crack, not just a lift from jamming it but clean off?? I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me what to do if there is anything to do? She tells me she jams them and they pop off. Ive filed them down shorter today when I did her fill in order to prevent her from jamming them as I thought maybe they were too long for the type of life styles she leads as she seems very hard on her nails but 4 hours after she left my salon shes calling for a repair?? I have no other problems with any of my other clients so Im at a loss..........its typicaly the same 3 nails everytime. HELP!!Oh ya and she has been to 2 other nail techs and all of her nails were off within a week at both of them. she was doing very well for her first set as well as her first 2 fills with me and now the last 2 have been nothing but repair after repair...... Can stress in a persons life effect there nails and weather or not they stay on?? Ive checked my prep over and over and I have no other clients with problems i realy am at a loss?
Do you think maybe she bites them, cracks them and then picks them off?? This is my thought??? is there anything else that would cause this to happen? shes coming back for a repair Tommorow at 1pm so if anyone out there can give me any ideas I would really be greatfull!!!Thanks soooooo much!!

Hi, I too are training and have lots of peeps to do but none a nail biter, but my tutor did say that if a client keeps 'knocking them off' or alike then she probably bites them the same she does to her own nails, and for that you should charge a full re-fit!! That would probably deter her in the future! But unfortunately if they have bitten for years then its difficult to get them to stop even with falsies! All you can do is repair or refit and try to persuade her to be more careful and give aftercare advice. Good luck...hugs dollysplodge xx

I don't get these girls that spend all this money on nails then pick them off !!! what wrong with these people !! good luck today let us know how you got on x

Yes, I would say with it being the same 3 nails that she is biting them of.
I trust that you are charging her for these replacement nails?
I never do a nail biters enhancements longer then the end of their own finger.
If you have been doing the replacment for free then when she returns this time make it very clear that the free bee's are over and that from now on you will be charging her the full amount for each nail.

Hi everyone thanks sooo much for your feedback!! I havent actualy been charging her for repairs at all............ I know I should be but I figured because im just starting out that I would give free repairs however she is taking full advantage!!! I will have to tell her today that the freebies end here! Shes gotta be biteing them and then picking them off as the nail plate is completely CLEAN when she comes for repair and the natural nail is torn off. Thanks again for your feedback! I will let you know how it goes today!

Being an ex biter myself, it is very difficult to stop the habit of having your fingers in your mouth.

I would say to her that from now on you will have to charge her for ALL repairs as she needs to take more care of them as she will damage her nails more by biting them or keep banging them for what ever reason.

This hopefully will deter her from continuing to bite or pick at them. Let her know you don't have this problem with anyone else.
