Hi guys needing some advice here I do nail extensions mobile acrylic fibreglass nail art and gel. Would love to work by rent space in shop however not qualified in manicure/pedicure and have developed an acrylic allergy so can only offer brisa gel and fibreglass an nail art. Will I be able to get a space in a salon without manicure and acrylic being on offer? I've applied for lots of jobs but had no luck I feel like I should just give up because of this allergies but I love love love nails

Hi Love,

Please dont take this the wrong way but I am sorry I don't quite understand, how have you got qualifications to offer Brisa and Fiberglass if you dont have a manicure certificate. I was under the impression you needed a manicure certificate to enroll or your course would offer the Manicure certification as part of the qualification? Did I mis read or did you mis speak. LOL. If you dont have your manicure certificate yet it is quite easy to arrange and not all that expensive at all.
It doesn't take long and once you have that you can offer a nice relaxing service alongside your nail art and enhancement service.

In reply to your question, I would imagine most salons would want to offer an all round service but then there are some that will only offer Shelac or natural nail treatments. Maybe a spa or share a chair with a tech who only does acrylic ? You would maybe be able to share treatments or add your nail art to the acrylics your colleague has applied. It is going to be a case of " How long is s piece of string" If you find the right place you will get a job.

Good luck and hope you get yourself sorted

PS Do Anti-Histamines help ?

Hi thanks for getin back to me. No unfortunately anti histamines don't help I've tried every product of acrylic and gel I can find and brisa is the only one I can use. I done all my courses with essential nails home courses and manicure pedicure was not available though them. I'm thinking is it worth me giving up my full time job in order to rent a table, is their any demand for a tec who
offers all but acrylic as I don't want
to waste any more money on courses

Hi again,

No money on courses is never wasted it is more a case of money is wasted on courses that are not good enough.

As far as I am aware CND products are hypoallergenic so it might be worth ringing Sweet Squared to have a chat.

There are many techs out there that dont do acrylic either because they dont like them or they have not done further training. All you can do is ask at your local salons. You might find work straight away. Gel is VERY popular at the moment bit I have worked out that Acrylic clients are the "Die hards" Usually loyal clients who ONLY want acrylic. Not always, there are many loyal Gel clients too but I think with the hype of these Soak off Colors there are a lot of deal chasers so it is a bit more difficult to build up a regular clent base when starting out, if that makes sense. Also I find thst Fiberglass is a no go where I am. I have not touched my stock yet and not had one enquiry for it. Maybe it's just the area I am in. Plenty of Nurses, carers, horsey and doggy types. ( of which I am one :) ) so strong nails are a requirement. Sorry I am the only one replying at the moment but I am sure someone else will turn up soon.

Hon, the best advice I can give you is go out there and try to help yourself. iykwim. Make the phone call to S2, phone your local salons, pretend to be a customer if you have to and ask if they do gel or acrylic, ask about the ins and outs, ask how popular, what the pros and cons are, which products they use, speak to local techs and find out what sells best. Cal Yell.com or check google analytics and find out which keywords get the highest click rate. Many things you can do to get your research done.
You are going to have to bite the bullet and get your manicure certificate but check with trainers first if it is included you might be better off doing it all in one go.

Manicures are a nice little money spinner too, especially with all the special events coming up. I offer a basic manicure and polish at these events and it is quick, easy enjoyable money to earn. So you will make your financial investment in this course back fairly quickly

Just a friendly warning though, if you are not making enough money as a mobile tech,( If you dont do mobile yet, why not start) I would not give up my job yet to rent a space unless it is a very busy salon with a clientele that will give you their business, or you have enough savings to tide you over. THere are many techs on here who have taken a fair while to build up a business that pays the bills, most of us have to rely on savings, husbands, second jobs or kind family members for the first year or two whilst we hone our skills and build a good, reliable client base

I currently owe my husband obscene amounts of money and he wants cash as a repayment, not payment in kind. ( Bummer, trust me to marry a man who has his head screwed on the right way. LOL)

You are welcome, I replied to your thread in the nail geek as well and Laurakate has said much the same as me. Get hold of Sweet Squared who are the distributors and Educators for CND products. You might find a niche in the market only offering hypoallergenic products. There are a lot of people out there with similar allergies. Let us know how you get on

I will thank u so much great advice
