yes i have- kind of! I went through a local solicitor who does no win no fee, as it was for my Grandad, and it was far easier for the solicitor to go out to see him at home (particularly with his injuries) and discuss things there.
He fell on some really awful paving, and broke his arm, very badly, hospital missed the break so it was too late to operate on it etc
They were very good, very thorough, but sadly my Grandad passed away in the middle of it all.
Unfortunately the solicitors decided to settle the claim without letting my Nan know, first she heard was when a cheque arrived, and being recently bereaved none of us had the fight in us to persue anything.
So I would say choose your solicitor carefully, familiarise yourself with their terms (ie, ours added their fees on top, they weren't taken from the settlement) and be very vigilant with any decisions!
I think my Nan got about £3-£4k for my Grandads claim. It really does vary a lot, and also on who you are claiming against.
