ok, so we all frown upon the un-trained doing treatments on paying clients, BUT! what about the untrained doing treatments on US???

I let my boyfriend wax me and do my spray tans, what about you geeks?

This thread is just for fun! :green:

My pal's husband has waxed her legs but she said never again as he enjoyed her pain too much!

Trish

My husband does my spray tan because I make him. He doesnt do it a good as I would like because he does it under duress we normally end up falling out afterwards. His skills are no where near good enough (no matter how much I teach him) to perform it on anybody else, but what you will do for love hey!

i have let un trained peeps do treatements on me but they have been praticing to become trained if that makes sence!!!

i go in once a year as a client and case study to my old tutors class to help girls out at my old college and i have ace fun and pain sometimes when things go about wrong as no one is perfect!!

The only salon I ever worked in had an owner who used to perform treatments, UNTRAINED. She did waxing, tinting and facials and never had a lesson in her life. Her idea of training was to get a therapist to show her. She even questioned me on the amount of peroxide I put into eyelash tints! What!!

She once told me that I'd got a brazilian booked and would be doing it the next day.
I told her I'm not doing it I'm not trained, so her and the hairdresser proceeded in drawing a picture of how to do it (with warm strip wax). I had a bit of a dispute with her and the interfering hairdresser and told her I'm not doing - it end of. A) not trained, b) not insured.

She also gave me a video of hot stone massage, told me to go home and learn it.

I didn't have a clue what I was doing and again didn't do the treatment.

That owner made me cringe, she was loud, aloof rude, shouted across the salon.

The salon was dirty and unhygenic.

I left after 3 months.

Its shocking to know there are untrained people offering treatments.

oooooooh no I dont blame you for leaving hun! I think a lot of us are self employed because of bad experiences we have had working for other people in salons!

I don't mind my boyfriend doing things for me, as he is under my constant supervision lol, plus it saves me cash - I was just hoping that I'm not the only one who lets the other half do treatments! :)

My hubby does my tan tho he misses bits and leaves me with white patches lol

I'd never work in a salon again after my experience. I think you had a bad experience too. There are some rogues out there. May report this lady to rogue traders lol!!

My fiance does my spray tan and is actually quite good apart from the odd darker bit usually the wrists! My mum has had a go at waxing my underarms but couldn't get the hang of it so now I just get her to stretch the skin while I do the rest!

actually this thread has a flip side - being a trained (insert profession here) can have its downsides as people seem to think you can fit them in at the drop of a hat and for free too! Im not on about regular clients I mean people that you meet, family friends etc.

Thank god Im not a gynocologist (excuse spelling) lol!!

And yes you're right tinky - I did have a bad experience - and what is it with some hairdressers that think they are therapists?? teehee!

Yes this lady was a beauty therapist but did hair, I got so cross I shouted at them both"I'm not trained and not doing it" after they proceeded in Telling me to stretch the skin - I mean, I've wouldn't know where to start. How annoying.

Surprised the place is still open.

i let my hubby do my spray tans and tried to let him wax my underarms once but he was so cack handed i ended up doing it myself

Shocking. Its unbelievable how these places manage to stay open.

Good for you tinkywinky for refusing to lower your standards.

My sister does my spray tan and makes a good job of it too.:)

I don't have a problem with it depending on what you're having done.
A bit of waxing, spray tan, etc not a problem - I'd trust my sisters with those things.
I've even had my Mum help me do certain stretches to help with my psoas when I come out of hospital last year. She was worried she was going to hurt me until I explained that it doesn't hurt, I just can't put enough pressure on myself to effect the muscle.
I've also had people at work do pressure points on my back when I've been really sore.

Lee cut's my hair, the way i see it is he is a joiner so his lines have to be spot on,right ?

I let a friend of mine wax my underarms for me (even if she punches me in the face) because she gets a bit enthusiastic

She also does a mini mani for me every now and then simply because she is fascinated when I do it for her and she wants to have a play.

What's even scarier is when a trained person works on themselves  I tried to do my own brazilian a couple of weeks back and it was a very bad idea.

Paying the price for it now with lumps and bumps everywhere ..... :irked:

My sister spray tans me, I made her come with me to be my model on my training day especially, told her to listen & learn so she knows what she is doing when its her turn.

my ex used to paint my toes for me and he was very good at it

I did let a friend help wax my underarms once, never again

I've asked by bloke to do my underarms a few times but he refuses, he says he doesn't want to get it wrong! Strange though as he doesn't seem to mind doing everything else wrong! :green:
I'm sure any untrained person would be able to do a better job than I can do on myself! xx
