I've been doing acrylic since January and I still don't feel like its going as well as I thought. I've been doing tips with french overlay and sculpt on the same client (a friend) just to see which works best and for some reason the sculpt seem to be lifting after a week and the tips are better but are still lifting after 2 weeks. I've tried this on 2 of my friends and the same happens the hand with the sculpt start lifting. I am so carefull with the prep removing excess cuticle and everthing else. The nails look fab when I've finished them not too thick/thin. I've also been thinking about getting an e-file to help cut down on the time it takes me to do infills about 90 - 120 mins but I know thats not really the answer. I've also thought about trying cnd as I've heard you dont need to do as much prep and every1 raves about how good it is but then I guess its still down to me.

Sorry to go on I just want to get it right as I love doing the nails but they just not lasting, any advice would really cheer me up......thanks..

firstly welcome to the site
changing brands wont solve you problem as prep is one of the most important things for longevity of the enhancements, you will only take your problem with you.
your infill time is quite normal so dont panic or worry about that.
if you are happy with your prep and you feel that you are doing everything right then i would say to look at your mix ratio and see if that is right and then look at your application techniques.
i use nsi and find there products fab as do other techs
cnd is also a great brand but i feel that changing to them wouldnt solve your problem.
go to www.nsinails.com and register and you will gain access to videos, tips and tricks and advice.i think this could help you alot and is well worth doing as you use nsu products.
good luck and please ask if you have aymore questions.x

It might have something to do with your application in zone 3. It may be too thick, you may be too close to the cuticle etc..

I made a thread recently entitled "I wanna give up" I was hvaing the same problem. Many people suggested I practices using false nails and bluetak or plasticine. I have been practing a lot like this and I find it EXTREMELY helpful. You can shape the blutak like a finger kind of and then u press the nail in and its just like a finger with the cuticle and side walls. It works perfect and its cheap!!!

I got my plasticine from the dollar store, I bought a pack of 200 false nails from the drug store for $9.00. I press the end of the plasticine on the edge of a upsidedown bin (also from the dollar store) and practice away!!

Although I havent had a chance to do one of my gf's since I know its gonna be a huge improvement. :)

Hope this helps you! Dont give up:)

I agree with Tracey Louise, I would suggest a one on one with your educator would be of a great advantage and she/he will be able to sit with you, watch your technique and give you constructive critism - often after these sessions you come away with such a lot of clarity and renewed enthusiasm.

Do make sure you press and smooth the product to assure complete contact and that you leave a tiny margin of natural nail around the cuticle line and sidewall lines.

Thanks for the advice I will keep trying maybe I need to press harder in zone 3...just wanted to say how much I admire all you geeks doing nails its the hardest thing I have ever done!!!!

i too had problems with lifting for the first 6 months or so but dont worry, you'll work through it. really concentrate on your prep, switching companies wont help -- less prep will not solve your problem. a 1 on 1 day couldnt hurt either:) i'd also like to add that an efile will be a GREAT investment for you if youre looking to get your fill times down, especially if you do a lot of backfills. just be sure to take a course on how to use the efile properly becuase just like everything else in our industry, you can do major damage if you dont know what youre doing! hth :) good luck!

Cutting down your time: I personally am not a big e-file user, really dislike the fine dust spinning up in to the air, I find rebalancing just as quick if not quicker with a hand file and concentrate only on the areas that require filing. I file using firm long strokes (using almost 2/3rd of my file) and find most of my dust particles fall onto my tablemat.
There is a good tutorial on Forever French Rebalances (I am a better tech than a computer wizz and I have not worked out how to add a link - any help here on how to do this would be great:lol:)

Hi ya,

I use both NSI and Creative.

Both have slight differences but the prep is exactly the same on both.

I find they both have no lifting issues.

BUT, i did find that even though i was preping correctly, applying product correctly-leaving a margin etc i still got a bit of lifting.

Then after some advise i started to concentrate on my finishing skills. Once i started to file the zone 3 using a sand turtle and you couldnt see or FEEL the natural nail/enhancement the lifting issue vanished!

Hope this helps.

I have started really filling down in zone 3 to finish and it does help, I think I need to file my sides down a bit more as well. Ive read quite alot on here about the e-file and it seems to be a 50/50 split I guess if I dont get much lifting I shouldn't need to do as much filing which shouldn't take me as long to do an infill:rolleyes: Thanks again for the support and I will be soooo happy when I can do a rebalance with no lifting!!!

the first step to fixing a problem is finding out where your going wrong.
