NSS - this is a long one!

:irked:Well I hope you guys arent gonna shoot me down lol but i felt i need to share my day with you lot and wondered if anyone else have or will admit to what i did today!?

(OUT OF DESPERATION) I went to the local nss nail bar and had my nails done!

I used to think....(Before I started learning nails in-depth) that these bars (which I have to admit...I visited a fair few times in the past none the wiser!)... were ok they werent THAT bad, I was impressed by the skill and speed of the technicians and I even put a thread up about it as I wondered if everyone here really thought they were that bad...bit silly as i did get shot down big time lol x

But since then ive studied hard and obviously learnt and realised why these places are so bad and have completely changed my mind about them and I vowed never to use one again....however I found myself sat in one today!

I havent lived in this area that long and dont know the town all that well...havent a clue where all the professional techs are...rang around a few numbers in the book...no ones free or i cant get to them cos my cars kapput..dont think i should do it myself as i made a mess of my own nails last time i tried! ...no bus service...going on holiday saturday...so got very desperate and as i managed to get in town today..going to the nail bar seemed to be my only option as I knew I could ust walk in n get them done straight away...........i really truely felt very ashamed and guilty as I do feel and know its going against my religion and everyone elses on here BUT on the other hand I have to say its been a really good experience in a way...because its the first time ive walked into one of those places and felt the way i did when i was sat there...............

i noticed so many things that werent right that never really crossed my mind before...the total non sanitisation of anything...the technicians grubby hands....the burn of the e-file...the filthy pot of powder and the terrible state of the nail file and particularly the block! omg! the way the primer and something else? was slapped on and the amount of monomer slapped all over my fingers! So many things!.........i really saw the place in a whole new light..and although i know i shouldnt of gone in..i did...and im glad i did for that experience and i definately wont go ever again no matter how desperate!

In spite of all that i have to admit my nails do look quite nice although I asked for pink and whites and I got.......pinks and white tips!

I'm quite amazed that you've posted this thread, and I wonder if you are looking for a reaction frankly.

I cant think that you would reasonably expect any other reaction than to get shot down in flames, especially since you are a technician yourself and have already highlighted the reasons why NSS are so bad. You said you make a mess of your own nails, but I bet not half as much as the mess the NSS will have made of them for you, so I dont understand your logic at all.

I don't know what you are expecting anyone to say..... There are enough threads about NSS on here, we all know what they are all about, and quite frankly you knew what you were doing when you walked in. It's your nails => your choice what you do with them.

An un-educated member of the public would get sympathy for her experience and (hopefully) be educated as to what to look for in a professional nail tech, whereas you know what to look for. There's nothing in your post that I (and other pro tech's) haven't heard 100 times over....

It's your nails, make your choice, pay your money, take the result. But I don't know what reaction you're expecting or hoping for by posting your experience here.

By giving them your money you are helping keep them going....if people stopped going they would have to close...!!...your backing the wrong team hun....:lol:

I would rather flush my money down the loo than give it to these people.

You know what, I wear nno on my nails and I was so tempted to go and get em done in my local nss just to see what its like as ive never been in. When it came down to it I just couldn't bare the thought of what might happen to my nails, so I went with a friend who always goes (against my advice) and watched and I agree I was surprised to see them file her nails then shuffle her off down the line and she went on to use the drill straight on another cilent!!:Scared: I always knew how these places worked as i've read it here so many times but too see it in real life is something else. And I feel I have confirmed my thoughts about this nail bar. Just thought I would let you know that you are not on your own there babes. x

As a CND trainee Im not really sure what to say..

Only that my 18 year old daughter went to a NSS and I am now picking up the pieces and seeing the true extent of the damage done to her nails.

I dont understand that if you have all the knowledge of a nail tech why on earth would you let someone take your nails into their hands knowing what could go wrong?

You say you were deperate - how desperate could anyone be to go somewhere and experience no sanitisation?

This is only my own opinion and I dont mean any offence to anyone !

If a nail tech goes into an NSS - then I'm sorry but unless you practice what you preach you can't be much of a tech in the first place! We are supposed to support a pro attitude and pro training and the use of pro products. If we don't stick together we are all out of a job. You deserve to have your nails trashed, knowing what they would do!

If I were you I probably wouldn't have posted a thread such as this just before I went on holiday. I'm pretty sure you will not get a sympathetic reaction.

I'm not sure how you could sit there are watch all the sanitation issues that were around while they were treating you.

Before I qualified I visited one of these a few times and even then would always get into a mini slanging match with the tech as you don't have to be qualified to realise that nipping living skin is just inviting infection. I stopped going as it scared me that me as an unqualified person had more knowledge than she did.

Your post to be honest is something that I would maybe expect a friend of mine to come and say even though I had told her about NSS. Kind of a '' I know you said I shouldn't but I did it anyway'' but you really know better.

When you qualify they are going to be your competition and if I were you I wouldn't be lining their pockets.

If I were you I would put it down to a stressfull breakdown. lol

Go on holiday, find your confidence in your own nails and do them yourself next time!
