HI, I am after a bit of inspiration. I am trying to put a letter together to send to local businesses, banks, accountants, bakeries, etc...

I already have special offer cards made and want to include them with the letter giving details of my services but try as I might I cannot get the wording of the letter right. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what to include in the letter.

Dear....

I am a local Nail Mobile Technician and thought that some of your staff may be interested in my special offers....

I know it sounds really boring but I dont know what to write to grab the attention of the person that will open the post. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you x.

How about starting the letter with a grabbing headline like 'whoever opens this letter has won a prize, free treatment' or something along those lines? then you could say all they have to do is get you x amount of bookings using the enclosed leaflet? ps its a great idea to send them out, good luck x

I am from a Sales and Marketing background and not nails even though I have just bought a Salon! You may be able to help me with the technical side...

The best thing to do if you want to target these businesses employees is stand outside the door at closing time and hand out the information. This costs nothing, engages people directly and ensures that potential customers recieve your details.

If you want to approach businesses and ask them to do your marketing for you (at the risk of sounding rude, this in essence is what you are asking them to do) then there needs to be something in it for them, by that I mean a monetry incentive. Smaller businesses might be easier called in on and asked if you could leave your information somewhere prominant but banks and other multi nationals would prove more difficult.

As a very experienced sales professional I would always, always stress the importance of trying to make an initial contact in person and then follow up with the letter, after all they might say no, that hasn't cost you anything. If they throw your marketing literature away that has!

Sorry that I haven't given you any words to use in a letter.

If I was you and going to do this I would find the biggest employer, have an A board made up and stand next to it just outside their door in all your kit. Give everyone a card who leaves and tell them it is a special "??" whoever the company is offer. If there are 300 people leave and you only get a 10% succes rate that is still 30 new customers. When you do the work on those 30 new customers give them a referral card and tell them if a friend presents this when getting a full set of nails they will get their first re-balance free also at this point boook them in for their re-balance (that gives a closing date to that offer, they can always pull it forward if needs be tell them to do this if required). So now you have 60 customers and it has cost you 300 cards, 30 referral cards and materials and time for 30 re-balances at the most.

Hope this gives food for thought, thanks....
