Just anted a bit of advise with regardsto pedicures on OAP's.

Ive just introduced a luxury manicure/pedicure in the salon and an older ldy has booked in with me for this saturday, i have a bit of a phobia with feet as it is but if i want to earn money its something i have to do, i filled a record card in with her this week so we could get it out of the way and she advised she goes to a chiropodist, she doesnt have diabetes but she has 2 ingrowing toe nails, any suggestions of how i can overcome this as she is my first edicure client!

Thanks geeks xx

It depends on how badly "ingrowing" the nail is. Chances are it's just very curved and/or has debris under the lateral edges of the nail and is causing pressure in the nail fold. Technically it's not ingrowing until it pierces the skin in which case I would leave it alone and send her to the podiatrist. I would check first to see before you do a footbath or anything else. If it looks red, swollen and is warm to the touch again send her to the chiropodist. If you have a small or medium head corner file that will help to smooth the edges but I wouldn't go digging too much. HTH

If she's seeing a doctor, maybe he/she is cutting your client's toe nails? I work in an assisted living facility and a doctor comes in periodically to do just that.

If not, there is a special file for ingrown toe nails. I've never used one but it looks like it'll do the job.

Best of luck to you! :)

if it was me id make an excuse that i couldnt do them because of her ongoing treatment with the podiatrist. and if they are ingrown i dont think you should cover them with polish anyway as infection needs to be seen if its there. id stay well clear.

Thanks for your replies.

i think what i might do is do everything thats included in a pedicure except the file and polish, what do you reckon.

I feel a bit sorry for her and she said she just wants a bit of pampering :-( xxx
