Wondering if anyone can recommend or give me any helpful tips.

I am looking into massage courses that are specifically designed to teach how to massage a person that has or has had cancer.

I've done lots of research into different companies but I just wondered if anyone on salon geek is already trained or knows of anyone that has done a course.

Thank you in advance

Hi NatalieJane

I worked in a salon that did wigs for cancer patients.

I trained in holistic facials with Jennifer young using her products and Jane Iredale make up.

My friend who worked there was trained in massage and she was then trained in oncology massage with Christine Clinton using Lindi products. My friend is excellent at her work and I met Christine once and she is so knowledgeable and passionate.

I don't know if that's any help if you have any questions il try to answer :) xxx

I'd say check with your insurers first what courses they will accept. Then you can decide between the ones that they recognise.

I knew someone qualified in lymphatic drainage massage who was a member of MLD UK. But that was a few years ago, I'm not sure what the process is for arranging treatment now (doctor referral or patient led).

I did my post grad diploma in complementary therapies in cancer care at the Christie Hospital, Manchester. They did lots of stand alone one and two day courses or you could sign up for the complete course. Brilliant training and they had people travel quite a distance to do the courses.

Thank you all for you advice!

I'll call BABTAC this week and see what they say then have a look into the people you've all recommend.

Thanks again!! X

Hi NatalieJane
I'm also a Natalie Jane lol! I was wondering did you do a course in oncology massage? I am thinking of going down that route to extend my passion for massage. I am also insured with BABTAC and wondered what response you got from them? X

Hi! I went to the beauty show in Manchester last week and there was a fabulous company there that specialise in training to treat cancer patients.

If you like I can forward you the details if you send me your email x
