Opening a salon

Hi,
I'm seriously thinking of opening a salon.. But ! I need to know everything about it from rent to business rates to health and safety etc.
Does anyone have any advice for me please.

you should look into if there is a business gateway or business link in your area. there adivce is invaluable and most of the time its free xx

I agree with kim, get as much insight and advice as you can for free. even banks ect offer business advice for free. i found this sight a huge help though as its real people, in the real world! i recently set up my own salon, its not been easy, and so far it has cost me 12k from start to finish including decor, electricians, furniture, equipment, printing, products.....dermalogica was £2200 alone! but i rent my premises with in a hair salon, i have the downstairs so i dont have the over heads you may have if you lease rather than rent space. all that said....it is worth it all in the end!
