I want to one day open my own salon... It wont be for a few years from now but I want to research as much as possible to be ready. Any Advise on what to study and what I should know?? Do's and Dont's???

I opened my shop this March. Location was key for my success. I am in a great neighborhood on a street with heavy traffic and great visibility. I had to do a build out for my space and that cost a quite a bit. It would have been cheaper if I was in a space already built out. I did not go with traditional salon furniture which saved me money and also made my space much prettier. I hate jetted pedi spas and instead use stainless steel bowls. That saved money on plumbing. I make all my scrubs and soaks which my clients love and it is more cost effective. My shop is all natural with an emphasis on health and wellness. It helps to set your shop apart from the others.
