I am about to open a new beauty salon a week tomorrow, I am having the open night a week tonight (only decided today) as the salon is quite small I am really worried about space for my guests and how I am going to make the night entertaining and worth there while, I dont want people to just walk in, have a look and then leave although thats all they might be able to do with the salon only having 2 rooms. Has anyone got any idea's for what I can do on the night, and make there visit worth while? I have already decided I am going to give them a drink on arrival and draw a raffle and prehaps mini demos. Thanks in advance x

maybe a questionare, asking what are their favorate treatments, what makes a treatment special etc, or maybe having a few girls glammed up with examples of make up and nail, hair if you are doing hair mingling with potential clients?? what about a quiz, maybe have a couple timed throughout the night with prizes for the winners?? good luck with the opening!! xx

Make sure your drinks aren't alcoholic... unless you have a licence:twisted:

This made me do some research and I found this which may be of some use http://www.hji.co.uk/blogs/2007/05/serving-food-and-alcohol-in-yo.html It says if it is not directly linked to a sale and anyone can walk in a request a drink then a license is not needed but if they have come for a treatment and you are giving them a drink then you would need one. But to contact your local authority as they may interpret things differently.

Why not do the raffle for free every half an hour so people stick around to see if they have won (e.g they have to be in the shop to win). You could raffle off some cheaper items or samples or discount vouchers. Demos are definitely a winner and I would also have some retail to sell on the night but make sure it is placed where it won't be stolen!

You could do an offer where if people make a booking on the night they get some kind of benefit.

Just an idea - as you have very little space, do you have a garden/ back area where you could put a gazebo up to hold more people?
Or if not how about outside the front of the shop?
That might free up a bit of space
