Has anyone tried the new lacquer nail apps from OPI? I am keen to try them but dont really know much about them. Do you need to cure under the led? It says in the newsletter to use with the Gelcolor top coat. :D

Hi Maisymouse. I've just on come here searching for any extra info. It's says in the OPI summer brochure. To put the Gelcolour top coat over the top. Also recommending £12-£15 for treatment price if using the Gelcolour service. They can be applied without but I'd assume it won't last as long. The only thing I couldn't get my head round was that the apps cost half the afore mentioned price. So not a great mark up to do the treatment. I think though (or hoping) I have my wires crossed. I bought the tiger print ones today to try on myself. Can't wait!!! I love my Shellac and my OPI gelcolours, never tried minx or any other wraps before. :0)

Sorry to bump this (I was searching for info and found this topic) but just wanted to say I have trialled these today on my nails and I really like them! Much less fiddly than foils. I have asked Lena White for more info. They need more of a range tho. Here is a pic (my thumb was first one I did hence not as good)...

Thanks for the advice, I have got my wraps but haven't got round to trying them yet, they look nice though in your picture, how have they lasted?

I have tried minx and am not really a fan, nothing wrong with them just not my cup of tea. I'm not sure these will be either but though I would try them.

So you stick them on then put one coat of top coat on and cure for 30 secs???

you prep the nails the same as you would for any other manicure. remove ALL traces of oils/dust etc. select the size the fits the nail. starting at cuticle area press down. then pull slightly pressing as you go, to the free edge. remove excess at free edge with a file. Top coat and cure. Super easy, and they last up to 2 weeks :)

Sounds interesting. Anyone else had a go with these?

Been looking at these anyone else using them and have thoughts?

Sounds like fun! I might stock up at Olympia. So no base coat or primers needed?

Simples ;)

The lacquer apps are great. I had the Union Jack ones and put a gelColor topcoat over them. You just prep the nails as if you were doing a manicure - so remove the true cuticle, gentle buff and sanatise/squeak with NAS 99 and then apply the wraps. They last for weeks with the GC top coat. Well worth having a go at. A quick tip - If you don't use all the wraps - make sure you place them back in the foil wrapper and seal them tight. They are lacquer and will dry on contact with air.

has anyone tried encapsulating them in hard gels ?
