I have a new client who is a hairdresser. She currently has really thick l&p and wants to possibly change over to gels. She would like to have more natural looking enhancements, basically just an NNO maybe 1/4" free edge. However she is concerned that gels might be too soft as she is used to l&p and somewhat rough on her nails. I currently use opi axxium and having read quite a few comments regarding the brisa I was wondering if that would be a slightly harder gel or are they both pretty much the same?

Brisa is harder than Axxium soak off because Brisa is a buff off gel. Tbh, if her natural nails are quite strong and not too long then Axxium should be strong enough. I find it quite hard for a soak off gel...... If you're a Brisa user you can use Brisa as your base later then put Axxium colour over the top to get a bit more strength if you need it.

She really wants a hard buff off gel if any. I was under the impression that OPI Axxium sculpting gel is a buff off and the Axxium Soak Off (i.e. the coloured gels) is different to it.

I use NSI for my buff-off, I love love love it. I haven't used OPI because the last time I purchased it, the jars fell apart and I had to return them. I've used Brisa, very strong gel, but I had lifting issues with Brisa.

I don't use Axxium Sculpting Gel only the soak off but I believe you are right. Brisa is very strong but I have issues doing NNO with it, I get chipping on the corners. Like I say, having both Brisa and Axxium Soak Off gives me the best of both worlds and I can combine them if I feel the need.

Thanks for your replies. I guess I'll just have to get myself a pot of brisa and do a little experiment. See which one breaks more easily.

I hated Axxium!! Nails were terrible! Prep products were not up to par in my opinion. I switched to Young nails synergy gel and immediately saw better results. Brisa has been calling my name tho. Just nervous to invest in a new product.

I'm not quite sure here about harder = stronger.
I used to wear Axxium & later Brisa nno's and I used to break or chip few nails sometimes. But I haven't broken any since I switched to soft soak-off (young nails - maniq) and also soft gel allows my nails to curve into beautiful C when looking "down the barrel".

Don't forget you will need the Brisa or CND lamp to get the proper result from Brisa gels. :green:

Hiya,

I'm also a hairdresser, and I use AcryGel on my nails and my clients. It's a buff off gel, but it has all the strength of acrylic and the clarity of gel.
I always recommend it for hairdressers, as they have their hands in water alot, and being a hairdresser myself, I never have any lifting or problems with it. In my opinion it's a very good product, and you get the best of both worlds with it!
