Hello Ladies
I am wondering what the general opinion and views are on all these salons which use these nail guns/drills! When I initially had a stint in the industry 5yrs ago I have never seen them, there are half a dozen in walking distance from each other in my local area. Most of the staff are vietemese, I am in no way racist now ladys, but I have been and the service can sometimes seem quite impersonal with the language barriers and conveyor belt-'ish'! But gee's they do get busy!!

Yes, they are .. and they are for a reason ... because they are quick and often cheaper.

It really doesn't matter as to what anyone's opinion is of DISCOUNT salons ... they are here to stay and they are really not something that I waste any energy worrying about. I do my thing which is not their thing ... I charge much more than they do .. we are both busy.

It is only those that are not confident in the service they provide who get all twisted up about these salons and lower their prices to compete with them. I'm smarter than that ... I don't compete with them and I offer a super quick service to those who want it by using PopIts. I even have a drill/efile which I use if I feel the need .... nothing wrong with efiles if used responsibly on product.

Do a search for the answer to your question ??? This topic has been discussed allot on here.

I think its more about what the clients think, how much they want to spend and what sort of nails they want. If they want quality they'll pay for it,if not they wont. The language for some clients is a big problem as they feel excluded when they talk to each other in their own language one lady actually worried they were talking about her.x

They probably were! Sniggering at how her thumbs looked like toenails when they finished!!!

The fact is that they are there and there is little we can do about it other than offer a better service! They certainly have not effected my business in the least, in fact I have had new clients who have got fed up with the lack of conversation and a good laugh whilst having their nails done! :D

lol who knows. I think when you get your nails done its "part of the service" to have a chat and a laugh and being pleasent is one of the things that keeps them comming back. I COULDN'T sit quietly for an hour or more if i was the one having my nails done i'd be insane at the end of it :D

That reminds me of a Seinfeld episode. Elaine went to get her nails done in a Korean salon (turns out one of the women who worked there was an old girlfriend of George's dad, whom he met in Korea) and the nail techs were talking about her in Korean and laughing at Elaine's expense.

Art imitating life or vice versa? ;)

Life IS imitating Seinfeld. :D

I personally can speak as having had my nails done at a few of these places before I ever got into this industry. The very first time was when I was 14. I had broken my left hand 6 weeks before and had gotten my cast off about a week before my nail appointment. I asked the lady to be gentle with my hand as it was still sore and fragile and she was NOT AT ALL gentle.

She also used her efile on my cuticles and made me bleed. But I will admit, regardless of anything else, those women (and some men) ARE good at apply acrylic and sculpting etc. because they do it 12 hours a day or whatever.

i used to have these and now myu nails are very easy to break, and have ridges all over. I will only ever be having overlays from when i get my nails back into shape.

I used to bleed and it used to be hard to touch things after but i assumed this was normal. They lasted about weeks usually which was great for the price.

Ive even herd that they use products that have theeth enamel in it!!

You seem to be a 'training academy' and you believe that people use an L&P with teeth enamel in it!!!???
