I spray tanned two girls last Friday who were going on a hen do at Ascott. Bearing in mind that we do loads of spray tans and very rarely get any complaints, it is generally where the client has been careless afterwards. Anyhow on Sat morning one of the girls phoned from the mini bus to say that they were not pleased with the tans as their legs were still white, one arm had a white stripe and one of them had streaks round the foot (we dont spray feet only quick splash). I was obviously very defensive as when i had finished spraying them i checked the arms as always and they were really pleased with the results so I fail to see how it could be so disasterous. The girl completely went nuts saying she wanted refund which I declined but said I was more than happy to have a look and rectifyit but of course they cannot get in til wed. This has bugged me all weekend and upset me as she said i was being very rude but at the end of the day I dont see what could have gone wrong other than their negligence. I did other tans that day with no probs. Anyone had similar probs?

Sounds like they had some kind of product on before tanning or did something after the tan they should'nt have! If you have'nt had any problems so cant see why this time? If you don't need there business stick to your guns, as I'm new to doing spray tanning (been a fake tan junkie for years thou lol) I'd probably offer a free tan and make sure they have specific pre tan advice and aftercare advice hth xx

Did you ask them to take a photo of it so you could assess it?

i agree with calla (above) about asking them for a photo as 'proof', if they cant get in untill wednesday then how would you be able to tell at that point if the tan had gone a bit funny because of you or because they have not followed pre/ post tan advice. I'd explain that unless they can either provide a photo or come back sooner there is no chance of a refund as you would be unable to conclude what the problem is properly.

Yes I did ask for photos but I still think it is difficult to assess without seeing the actual tan. I have done 6 more tans since then, 1 was for a bride with no problems. I think the girl was trying it on to be honest. I have today put up new signs asking peolpe to check thoroughly before they leave and that if there are any non application problems they need to come back within 24 hours. We are a very friendly salon and I think sometimes people take advantage of this.

sounds like they were on the mini bus together and egged each other on to complain.
