I have just purchased a parafin wax bath. Firstly the instructions say it takes 12 hours to melt wax I dont understand how this is practical in salon can anybody tell me how they use. Also it states that used wax must be discarded after use is this correct and is it after every time used, if so this would be expensive how much do you pay for 1lb bags of wax and how much should I charge for treatment?

Hi ya,

I cant help you on how long the wax bath would take to heat and how much wax you would need to use, as I have a wax heater (the same one I use for wax pot heating - variable temp control) of which I use a different bucket inside for my parafin wax, which I decant into a lined bowl to use on clients, as yes after use straight from your bath (or the wax heater bucket) you would need discard the wax if you are using it on clients, or otherwise this could cause cross-contamination.

I think wax baths are more designed for personal use.

Hope this helps.

Hiya! What setting are they telling you to put it on? 12 hours is ridiculous!!
My wax bath takes about 1 hour on maximum heat then i just turn it off for a while to cool it down.
The wax should only be discarded if you are putting clients hands or feet directly in there as this contaminates the whole wax bath.
What i do i get a small bowl, line it with foil and pour the wax in using a ladel. Then use the paraffin wax brush to sread onto the area.
hope this helps you hun
