Patchy/blotchy tan

I have been fake tanning for a while and have never really had any problems with a patchy looking tan but last night when fake tanning my legs were left looking kind of patchy with some white patches. This is so strange as it has never happened before. I scrubbed my last fake tan off a week ago and have been exfoliating ready to apply a new tan and there was no visible tan left on my skin from the time before, so I am so confused to why this has happened. Please help!

It is probably something as simple as water splashing on there as you’ve washed your hands- it does happen. I always annoy myself when I put the tap on top fast when i’ve got a tan. Especially as I tend to be naked til it’s developed hahaaa
