I cant answer the hairdressing question however for your beauty therapists I would base your wages on their experience as well as their qualifications.I mean you could have a level 3 therapist who has come straight out of college with no experience of working in a salon and then you could have a level 2 therapist who has been in the business for several years.

You wouldn't pay the level 3 therapist more initially, maybe after a couple of years. Also I would stagger the wage increase, give them a chance to build up their columns otherwise you will be paying them too much and they will not be bringing in enough to cover their wage. You are aiming for them to be bringing at least 3 times their wage.

Personally I would say for most minimum 2 yrs, level 3 experienced therapists you are looking at around £6.25-£7.00 roughly. Then commission of 5% on treatments and 10% on retail. There are a lot of salons who pay minimum wage but again I think this depends on the age, experience and the qualifications not to mention responsibilities of the therapist

This is an average and depends on area etc.Hth a little

mysalary.co.uk gives you average wages for your area if that helps
