Hi guys and girls,

Forgive me for asking for help on what seems like such a simple question but i'm not sure how to interpret the question.

B: Describe the different types of techniques used within pedicures and how to carry them out
Is it asking me to simply describe how to carry out a pedicure (i.e. the steps to take) or is it referring to specialist pedicure services?

Also need help with this one;

O: Describe the correct method of applying and removing different nail finishes

So I presume I just describe how to paint the nail (french manicure, how to buff the nail and how to apply a full colour inc mentioning base and top coat) but what is the correct method of removal?

I've been doing the VTCT level 2 beauty therapy course but just did 5 days training and was given a manual but its extremely vague and only explains to use the 'squeak' method to remove nail varnish using non-acetone polish remover but this step is mentioned prior to applying the new nail finish so i'm not quite sure how to word it or if this is the right term to use for the correct method of removal at all as the treatment order doesn't include a mention of removal at the bottom.

Also for a suitable massage medium for dry skin is a cream the suitable choice and an oil for oily skin or is it the other way around?

Any advice, no matter how vague as I appreciate you all had to work out the answers yourself at some point, will be greatly appreciated as I have to hand in all my assignments on THURSDAY! EEk and for some reason it seems these basic questions the ones which are making me freak ...maybe i'm over analyzing them and ignoring what should be obvious! :Scared:

You, like me, overanalyse. I hated these assignments and also came on SG for help many moons ago.

With the pedicure procedure, you could start with: sanitise feet with sanitising spray, clip and then file she nails straight across. Apply foot scrub and massage into the feet. etc, etc. you get my drift?

With the polishing and removing, simply state what products you are using at what part of the procedure. First base, then 2 x colour coat, then top coat. Starting with brush a few mm before the cuticle, pushing the brush down close to the eponychium and then up to the free edge. Removal: Use cotton pad and remover.

I know it's a bit vague but hopefully some of it can help. I did my VTCT 12 years ago so I appreciate things have changed.

Good luck and don't over-think it! :wink2:

I did the CIBTAC course in body massage so different from yours. However, people have preferences to using different carriers for massage. I personally use oil. Someone with dry skin would need a lot more oil as their skin would naturally absorb it, and consequently less with oily skin. You may also prefer to blot the skin with couch roll after ( although this shouldn't be necessary if the correct amount of oil is used initially. For the body, I haven't come across many people with greasy body skin, however talc or cream could be used if it his was the case. More than happy to be corrected if others has different experiences.

Ha yeah it's the worst thing being an over analyzer, i'm almost always spot on the first time but end up re-writing loads of unnecessary crap that takes me completely off track because the self doubt's set in!

Thanks so much for this! Your advice will definitely help me keep in the right direction so thanks for taking the time out to reply, much appreciated

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I appreciate every one probably has certain product mediums they prefer and that work better depending on the client. Your answer has really helped clarify things for me and helped ease my stress so i'm really grateful you took the time to reply! :smack:

Will be so glad to just answer these and print it off and hopefully all will be relatively ok...always a relief once the works all handed in and you can focus on the exam paper, which coincidentally is to be done on Thursday as well so fingers crossed it's all ok! :D

Take care ladies and thanks again!

There isnt rly a right or wrong medium to use for massage as cream and oil both good for dry skins :)
