Yes specialised in blondes but I’ve left the salon I work at to go on my own and I’m wanting to do more brunettes/reds etc

1.9% mixed 1:2 with KP will allow you to deposit tone
6% lightens 1 level, covers grey, and darkens.
9% with KP can lighten 2 shades
12% with KP can lighten 3 shades
12% with special blondes can lift 4-5 shades
9% with special blondes 3 shades

Covering 30–50 % white hair add 1/3 of a Pure Naturals shade and for 50-100% 1/2 of a Pure Naturals shade for best coverage. Red shades on white hair with more than 50% grey you should ideally mix 2 parts red shade to 1 part Pure Natural eg 1/2 tube chosen red + 1/4 tube natural. That is what Wella recommends if I’m remembering correctly.

Hope that’s of some help.

That makes sense, Thankyou!
I have a client coming in a couple of weeks and she has blonde hair, she’s wanting to go darker like caramel tones I’d say to a base 7, could I just put a 7/something on top of it or would I need to pre pig? And would you say colour touch? She has no greys

Thankyou!

I think I would pre pig with a Perfecton /3 and /43. A 7 on blonde could end up a bit flat...Colour touch all the way it’s acidic and should help close the cuticle to give shine and give better longevity of the colour. Were you a wella user when in salon?

I’m assuming you mean she is currently at a base 10?

She’s a base 10 yes! I’ve always worked with wella I’ve only been hairdressing for like years but the salon I worked at they didn’t really go by wella rules and they would just use pastel with literally everything so I’m so lost with what to use :(

so just to confirm if I’m doing someone light to dark is it always best to use a lower peroxide? Eg 7 colour touch with 1.9 or 3% ?

Thankyou!

Yup when darkening I’d always use a low developer unless you are also covering grey of course. Colour touch has its own developer which is also 1.9% but it is a different product to pastel so I suppose to stay within the manufacturers recommendation that should be used.

Why not check out your local hairdressing wholesalers and see if they’re running any short colour courses?
