Ok so I have just had a phone call from a with held number

Can I speak to Mrs *****, ok thats me

Can you confirm your address, I then asked can you please tell me what it's regarding before I give you this information.

She says it regarding what im going to talk to you about.

What an idiot, I wouldnt give her it.

It' was a very bad line. she then also asked if i could ring her back I said no.

Why do people think they can ring you and ask for you personal information without telling you what it's for. It could be anyone

i have had a few of these over the last few weeks iam the same i always say

"well if you have it in front of you on screen and your ringing me why do i need to tell you what you already know"

they either carry on and its selling or a survey or they hang up!!

the ones where they ring up and ask about what you are paying on your mortgage and who its with etc.
as if i'm going to tell that to a complete stranger on the phone !

i always wind em up if they get on about mortgages and tell em we rent , haha , they get right confused and say but it dsays here you own the house , and i am like oooh no sorry its not us we rent , they soon go away :lol:

i hate all these types of calls.most of the time i just end up putting the phone down because even when you have said no they still keep on.so i cant be bothered with them.if i wanted something i would look for it myself.

i get fone calls like this all the time at home. really annoys me especially when it's evening. i just say 'can you wait one minute whilst i turn the potatoes down please?'. i then just let them wait for 15 minutes and when i go back theyve always gone!! :lol:

"NO thanks,have advertising"

That is so annoying, those cold calls really p**s me off!

And you never know if it's a "genuine" call or an identity fraudster either!

its a sad world but I think we have to ASSUME that these phone calls are fraudsters.

I'm on telephone preference so I tell them that and they get off the phone sharpish.

I had an organisation I do some freelance work for ring me up and ask for my bank details so that they could start paying me by BACS. I refused point blank to give out the details over the phone and asked her to email me, she didnt seem to think it was a problem.

Orange have rang my mobile and keep texting me all the time - I've NEVER been with orange, I'm virgin.

My receptionist took a call once for me, a man said he wanted to speak to me about money that I owed him, then another man came onto the phone and was very aggressive and threatening towards her, repeatedly saying he wanted the money that I was supposed to have owed him. She told him to *iss off, but for weeks after I looked over my shoulder when I left the premises - gave me the heebie jeebies.

I quite often get calls asking for Mrs *****. I say sorry, she's not here. Mrs ***** is my Mum, as far as I'm concerned. hehehe.

I once had a bloke ringing from the phone company wanting to talk to me about my account checking I was getting the best deal. Then he asked me to confirm my full name and date of birth. Told him he should be telling me if it was on his computer in front of him - not him asking me for it. He said I need to confirm who I'm talking to. Told him I wouldn't be telling him so he hung up.

Another telemarket company rang me once and I told them I wasn't interested. He kept talking so I said it again. He kept talking so I hung up. The phone rang immediately so I ignored it cause I could see on caller ID it was him again. Then they rang again so I answered and another man said you were talking to my collegue - I said I told him I wasn't interested and hung up again. The cheek of them.

I just say... can you please speak to my son about what ever it is .. he handles any phone enquiriers for me. I put James on and for some reason they hang up... maybe its because James is only 4.. dunno!!!! Works tho.. every time hehehe...

ok guys dont shoot me but... i was one of the people! i used to work in a call centre which ment cold calling to see if people wanted a remortgage!
it is a hard job because people shout at you all day:cry:

so glad i dont have to do that anymore!

do people really give out all that personal info in these days of fraud though?
