OMG I have just used my PhD wax system for the first time and LOVE it.

Soooo easy to use and clean, fab fab fab!!!

It's all i've ever used. So clean and easy. I do find though that the wax doesn't stay quite warm enough in the chamber at the front and i end up putting it back in the back-tsk tsk.
Have tried pot and spatula once and couldn't believe how fiddly it was. I did my training with this system and it's so easy. Could do with a unit that has 3 holders rather than 2. I prefer using the honey wax as it heats to a higher temperature but i have a tube of tea tree wax in as well for eyebrows(cos it's green and i can see it better!) No when my honey wax is running out i have nowhere to put another one. Well actually i do have a spare unit but i'd rather have one that has 3 holders-not that i'm fussy!

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I brought mine 2nd hand so no instructions but it was so easy to use. I waxed my own legs and it was fab. I used the back heaters as I did'nt really know what the front one was for!!!! Are you mobile or salon? I trained with warm wax but found it hard to transport (as I am mobile) and really messy. I have got a small plastic mini basket (looks like a shopping basket) to transport it in and it fits all my waxing bits. I also ordered the 3 mix pack of waxes from Ellisons. I fell like a little kid!! Hx

I am salon based and i have the PHD trolley to keep all my bits and bobs. If you contact ellisons they have a dvd to show you exactly how to use the system. The chamber at the front is to store the wax whilst in use. Wax a bit of leg, close the gate on the applicator and wipe it then put it in the chamber at the front so that the wax stays at a 45 degree angle so when you are ready to wax the next bit the wax hasn't travelled back down the tube. For smaller area i use the chamber but i like to have it on number 10!

ahh! love PHD even though i hate waxing! just makes things so much easier..

hi
we had a wonderfull lady from ellisons come into our collage to demo the phd system and it was fantastic, i bought one as it was a special deal for £65.00 which i thought was a great, anyway when it came i tried waxing my mums legs and it didnt work all that good i was totally unimpressed i thought this was down to the fact that we had been shown the system using the lavander wax and we recived the honey but now i am confussed as you like the honey better, just wondering if you could give me a few pointers i have also watched the dvd and read the info booklet x

I have got some of the newer waxes like the lavender but i haven't used them yet so can't compare but they are still creme waxes so they won't heat to a high a temperature as the honey wax. I have no problem with the honey wax-the only time i have a problem is if it's not hot enough or if the applicator becomes a bit bunged up. Had you got it on the right temperature?
If you prefer the lavender wax then use that. My other beautician prefers to use the tea tree. I prefer the bonded strips and she prefers the cotton strips.
We all have a favourite ways of doing things and if th lavender wax works for you then continue using that! :)

i think i will order some and have another go, when we got shown the system she said we should have the temp on 7 but the dvd says higher (cant renember the exact temp) but i noticed u said 10 i might try that and see how it goes x

Hi Ladies,

I brought the combined pack of 5 Lavender, 5 Tea Tree and 5 Natural and have only used the Natural so far it was wicked!!! It took about 15mins to heat which is fab as I am mobile then I left it on Ten and waxed myself and the temperature was perfect, no complaints here. Having trained in soft messy wax this was a breeze. Very simple and easy to use, love it love it love it!!!

Guess what............... I LOVE MY PhD machine!!!

I know it is personal preference but I absolute hate the phd system. I have worked in a salon where that is all they used previous to me arriving and they are now converted to both pot and spatula and the good old hard wax (again pot and spatula).

Their clients have all commented also on how much more comfortable their waxing experience was.

Thanks Joe, would'nt life be boring if all liked the same!!!! :)

i love phd aswell, wouldnt use anything else.....ive only ever used honey and tea tree wax but honey wax for me is best......

all my clients love it, the fact that its hygienic and they all seem to say that their waxing experience isnt as painful with this system, so smiles all round!!!

Beautilicious2Oz - i would def. recommend you either get the training dvd or try and book yourself on a training course, you will pick up some great tips with that, i know sometimes you can sort of teach yourself but if you do encounter any problems you wont know what to do........like when the tubes are coming to an end, how to hold the wax tube, speed waxing, etc, etc......
