Hey Everyone,

Thanks for the advice so far. I had my first day doing nails on saturday and my Spa Manicures wen't down a treat, very happy customers and repeat bookings already.

Thanks Julie & Girls north Wales you've done wonders!!

I'm starting to practice my Acrylics tonight on a friend before I go anywhere near a paying customer...My friend wants white tips put on, no problem so far but she doesn't know whether to have pink or clear Acrylic on top?

So any ideas which may look best? White tips with pink or clear Acrylic? Think she likes the fake look as she didn't want me to use white and pinks!!

Cheers. X:)

Congratulations on your success!

L&P is so much fun. What I generally do with clients wanting pink with their french is I add a small ball of pink in zone 2 - right on the nail plate below the smile line. I don't bring the pink to the sidewalls or all the way back to the eponychium - I just leave it right at the apex. I then cap the entire application in clear - reinforcing the white tip and using the clear for the sidewalls and eponychium. I don't think this method is widely used - but I really like it.

If I am sculpting and not using a tip, I generally to the same thing. I don't cap the entire white tip though, I just drag a small amount of clear over the smile line - as the white is generally thick enough without adding another layer.

Good luck! You are so gonna love it!

So you use pink and clear? Anybody else?

Thanks

I normally only use a white tip on myself when pushed for time and i struggle with my wrong hand. I like to use pink all over to tone the white down. But i'm guessing she won't want it toned down if she has asked specifically for white tips. So clear all over would work but why not use both as suggested to create a nice healthy nail bed colour and make sure you don't pull any pink over the white tip.
good luck hun, i'm sure she will be happy with your choice for her!
xx

I dont like pink over a white tip to me it just looks wrong :) i do clear all over or clear on tip and pink on zone 2 and 3 this is good practice for smile lines

When I have to do this false look I just white tip and use clear allover.

heres a tip to help her dicide, i have this in my salon, put out a white tip with a clear and one next to it with a pink overlay. that way they can see what each looks like. most my clientele like the clear overlay. however, there are a few that still prefer the sheer pink.

Sometimes we just have to do what the client wants. If faced with this situation I would do the following

apply white tip
Zone 2 and 3 - a clear pink or sheer pink powder (zone 2 angled and lightly feathered into the back of zone 1)
Then apply zone 1 in clear as to not obscure the white

HTH:)
