I don't think you'll have to change your shops A2 status, I think your council wants to make sure you are providing a legal service... You see, theres different types of 'massage' (like the naughty ones advertised in the back pages of newspapers:lol:)

I believe some councils even require a licence for massage?

 hi thanks
yes i think thats what the planning department said special treatments and said i would have to apply and it would be £355 pounds, is that a one off or every year then? Is that the same as a licence? He said i would need that for the acupuncture too

Hi different councils have different catagories, when we first set up we were told to apply for sui generis, best bet ask your planning department.

Hi,

I'm in South Bucks and took over an accountants' office and had to get Change of Use. It cost me about £260 and took 3 months. They put one of those signs up on the nearest lampost and you wait to see if anyone objects.

Interestingly you can do this on any property - you don't actually have to own or rent it, so if you're taking on a property with a different classification you can make going ahead on the deal subject to gaining the permission.

I didn't have to get the licence, just the one-off change of use.

Good luck
