Hello im looking for some advice and help in what to do , i have been trying to become a beautician for a year and a half now i have thought about college but i really didnt want to do that so i was going to do a home learning course but with that i would not have had any practical experience so i decided that i didnt want to do that , so i have rung around so many salons in my area asking if they would have a apprentice , trainee or a junior but all of them said no i think its because of the time and because i dont have the qualifications apart from what i have i taught myself but im just wondering if anyone knows anywhere in collier row , romford or essex area that would accept me i would be soo greatfull or any advice would be apprectaited
Thanks Ashleigh Jean x

Your other option would be to do some short courses, where you learn under the guidance of a tutor and gain a recognised certificate,
is this something you would consider ?

I agree with Louise, there is many beauticians that have done college and NVQ courses and have found that they still havent got the knowledge, training or practice they need to get started and then book separate courses for the treatments they want to offer.

Others have gone that route directly and booked for example their nail course to get started and then added other treatments as they go along and been very successfull with that, especially as you get theory, practice and a trainer on your side that helps you with support and advice all along, so maybe that might be a better and easier route for you?

Thank you for your help , I have been in contact with Essex School Of Beauty and I am in the mids of sorting out dates for the intense course so fingers crossed with that :)

Apprenticeships are available with funding. Phone around colleges in your area to see who is offering it. They will know the salons wanting an apprentice.

Apart from that if you want to be a beauty therapist you will just have to bite the bullet and do what it takes to become a professional and that involves a lot of training and a lot of practice
